More Amex Offers – July 2017
In a post titled “American Express Offers – A Great Way to Save” I wrote about the great savings opportunities that can be found if you are an American Express cardholder.
Sometimes, good Offers with wide-appeal are few and far between. July, however, seems to be more than just hot weather-wise, as Amex has introduced another round of Offers that should be of interest to many.
Here are a few of the recent additions to Amex Offers that could save you some cold, hard cash on your next purchases, or increase your Membership Rewards balance to take advantage of travel transfers or deals like the Amazon savings opportunity about which I recently wrote.

Restaurants Earning an Extra Membership Rewards Point on Each Dollar Spent
Purchases made in the restaurants listed – LongHorn Steakhouse, Olive Garden, The Capital Grille and Bahama Breeze – will earn the extra Membership Rewards point per dollar spent. While some of the restaurants I’ve listed will be available to all readers, I’m guessing these Offers are targeted to restaurants near the cardholder’s address, so individuals are likely to see location-specific Offers that may, or may not, be more appealing.
While earning an extra Membership Rewards point is nice, if you happen to hold the Chase Freedom credit card, it is currently earning 5x Ultimate Rewards points on restaurant purchases this quarter and would be my card-of-choice when dining out.
If you don’t hold the Freedom card, then this might be a restaurant-specific deal to consider. It’s always nice to earn multiple rewards points per dollar spent!
Staples.com – Earn an Extra Membership Rewards Point on Each Dollar Spent
Back to school time is just around the corner, and whether you’re a parent or teacher, supplies will most assuredly be on the to-buy list.
And if you don’t fit into either of those categories, Staples.com sells a wide variety of items that will likely appeal to many…gift cards to your favorite restaurants/retailers being one.
Why not earn multiple MR points per dollar spent in the process?

Rite Aid – Earn an Extra Membership Rewards Point on Each Dollar Spent
This extra point earning Offer is valid on in-store Rite Aid purchases only. If Rite Aid is your drugstore of choice, this is a way to boost your Membership Rewards balance without too much effort. Not sure I’d change my drugstore habits just to grab an extra MR point/dollar, though.
Boxed.com – Earn an Extra Membership Reward Point and Spend $75+, Get $25 Back
I had both these Offers sitting next to each other. Not only can you get a nice chunk of cash back on your purchase, but you’ll earn 2 Membership Rewards points per dollar spent in the process.
If you’re not familiar with Boxed.com, here’s the About statement from its site: “Boxed was founded in 2013 by an experienced group of tech pioneers with a simple idea: make shopping for bulk easy, convenient and fun, so you can focus on the things that really matter. Today, we’re delivering joy across the country with every order.”
I haven’t personally used Boxed.com, but I’ll be giving them a look as a result of this Offer.
La Quinta Inns & Suites – Spend $100 or More and Get $20 Back
If your summer travels have you staying at a La Quinta property, might as well save some money.
Offer is valid at La Quinta Inns & Suites locations in the U.S. and reservations must be made online at lq.com, via the mobile app or via phone. Deal is for stays that are paid for between 7/10/17 and 9/10/17.
