Huge Amazon Savings Opportunity if You Have Amex Membership Rewards Points
A major shout out to Doctor of Credit for bringing this deal back to my attention.
This is a combination of two Amazon savings deals that have been out there for a while now. I didn’t jump on it myself because it was reported as targeted with limited availability – and I didn’t write about it because I figured the deal would be dead before many could take advantage of it…if you were even eligible.
Well, thanks to the Doc’s reporting yesterday, I gave the deal a try just now and wouldn’t you know it worked!

Here’s how you can check if you’re eligible and take advantage of this major savings opportunity.
Deal Caveats
You’ll have to have an American Express Membership Rewards earning credit card linked to your Amazon account which has at least 1 Membership Reward point available to use AND you must use that Amex card to pay for your Amazon purchase.
You can link your Membership Rewards account here if you haven’t already done so.
And, your Amazon purchase(s) must be $60 or more AND be “products sold and shipping by Amazon.com.” The quoted language is important, make sure you see that language on the products you add to your cart.
Steps to Get Both Deals
- You first need to see if you’re eligible. Go to this link and look for the button that says “Click here to quality.” If you don’t see the above graphic/wording, you’re not eligible.
- Place $60 or more of eligible merchandise in your Amazon cart.
- Select payment options (the edit button near your credit card number) and select the Membership Rewards earning American Express card you’ve linked to your Amazon account.
- Use at least 1 Membership Rewards point to pay. You can use as many Membership Rewards points as you want, the remaining dollar amount – if there is any – will be charged to your Amex card. My $4.99 reference is using only 1 Membership Rewards point to pay.
- Enter the Promo Code AMEX17PRIME on the checkout page.
- You should see $55 (the result of the $30 promo code and $25 Membership Rewards point deals) savings reflected in your total.
I purchased a $60 Netflix gift card and my final price after using 1 Membership Rewards point was $4.99! Not a bad deal at all.
