Amex Offers – July 2019
|In a post titled “American Express Offers – A Great Way to Save” I wrote about the great savings opportunities that can be found just by holding an American Express credit card.
Here are a few recent additions to Amex Offers that could save you some cold, hard cash on your upcoming purchases. Offers may be targeted, so check your account for availability.
And always be sure to read the fine print of the individual Offers to make sure you’re not missing some important requirements.
Amex Offers Tip – While I’ve recently seen reports that Amex has allowed more than 100 Offers to show, I’ve not yet experienced that. So, if your Available Amex Offers are at 100, add some Offers to your card, even if you won’t be using them, additional Offers should then populate in your Available list. It seems – at least right now – 100 Offers is a max that can be shown, opening spots will allow you access to more Offers that may be of interest.
Best Buy – Spend $250 or more and get $25 back or 2,500 Membership Rewards Points
Get a one-time $25 statement credit (or 2,500 Membership Rewards points depending on the card on which the offer is available) when your enrolled Amex card is used to spend $250 or more in one or more transactions in-store at Best Buy or online at bestbuy.com by 9/15/19.
If you don’t have a specific purchase to make at Best Buy prior to September 15, you could still take advantage of this deal by purchasing a gift card or two, or three, or more.
The Terms state “Not valid for e-gift card purchases. Excludes corporate gift card purchases.” But nothing is said about physical gift cards, and Best Buy sells a variety of third-party gift cards (Netflix, Starbucks, iTunes, Uber, and many more) as well as Best Buy gift cards that should trigger the Amex Offer.
Just buy a physical gift card – online purchases of physical gift cards sent via mail may work, too, but will incur a shipping charge – in a Best Buy store to retailers you’ll be buying from anyway and save a bit thanks to the Amex Offer.
Department Stores – Spend $75 or more and get $10 back
Use your enrolled American Express card to spend $75 or more in one or more transactions online at select U.S. department stores by 12/31/19 and get a one-time $10 statement credit.
The select department stores include:
Bealls Florida, Belk, Bloomingdale’s, Boscov’s, Century 21, Dillard’s, JCPenney, Kohl’s, Lord & Taylor, Macy’s, Neiman Marcus, Nordstrom, Saks Fifth Avenue and Stein Mart.
Excludes all in-store purchases.
Most Amex cardholders should be able to take advantage of this Offer, especially considering it’s available through December 31, 2019.
And while it’s not a huge amount of saving, it’s better than nothing.
Staples – Spend $40 or more and get $10 back
As with the Best Buy Offer, and the Boxed Offer below, there are two variations of this Offer available – $10 back or 1,000 Membership Rewards points – depending on the Amex card on which the Offer is loaded.
The Offer provides a one-time $10 statement credit or 1,000 points when the enrolled Amex card is used to spend $40 or more in one or more transactions in-store at Staples or online at staples.com by 9/30/19.
There are a number of exclusions, so read the Offer Terms before purchasing.
The only restriction with regard to gift cards is “Not valid for gift cards in bulk purchases,” so if you wanted to buy a $40 Netflix gift card for example, its final cost would be $30. Or you’d earn 1,000 Membership Rewards points for that $40 Netflix gift card purchase.
Staples, this coming week (7/21-7/27), is offering no-fee $200 Mastercard gift cards – use this Amex Offer and “make” $10 on the purchase. This is best for those who pay with an Amex credit card that earns bonus cash back or points, and can use the Mastercard gift card quickly on regular, non-bonused purchases or liquidate through other means.
Of course, if you need printer ink, school supplies (sales are starting now), or any other items that Staples sells, this is a great way to save on those purchases, too.
Boxed – SPEND $75 OR MORE AND GET $20 BACK (or 2,000 Membership Rewards points)
Get a one-time $20 statement credit (or 2,000 Membership Rewards points depending on the card on which the Offer is showing) by using your enrolled American Express card to spend a minimum of $75 in one or more transactions online at boxed.com by 8/15/19.
If you’re not familiar with Boxed, it’s an online wholesale club that doesn’t charge fees. Boxed’s goal is to “make shopping for bulk easy, convenient and fun, so you can focus on the things that really matter.”
Being able to save $20 on a $75 purchase of items you’ll likely use on a regular basis is a pretty good deal. Give ’em a look if you haven’t already.
Bed Bath & Beyond – SPEND $25 OR MORE AND GET $5 BACK (or 500 Membership Rewards points)
Spend $25 or more in one or more transactions at Bed Bath & Beyond (in-store or at bedbathandbeyond.com) using your enrolled Amex card to pay and receive a $5 statement credit or 500 Membership Rewards points depending on the Amex card to which the Offer is attached.
Not a huge savings, but a way to save on back to school shopping items or household supplies.
Be sure to read the Offer Terms for exclusions before purchasing…they are somewhat extensive.
Offer expires 9/3/2019.

These a just a few of the many American Express cards available. Every Amex card provides access to Amex Offers, which is a nice benefit if you remember to check recent Offer additions, add them to your card and make the purchase.
Or you can check Savings Beagle…we’ll publish some of the better Offers when they become available.
The links above are my referral links. I get a points bonus for each approved application. Right now the sign-up bonuses listed above are better than the public offers on the American Express site. That may change depending on when you read this post. Be sure to compare sign-up bonuses prior to applying to ensure you’re getting the best bonus possible.
If you do apply via these referral links, thank you.
