Save 10% on Your Cable and Cell Phone Bills Thanks to American Express
|American Express recently released Amex Offers that will benefit those with Membership Rewards earning American Express cards, as well as those holding co-branded American Express cards…think SPG and Delta.
If you’re not familiar with Amex Offers, you can read my piece, “American Express Offers – A Great Way to Save,” for more details.
Since I’d already written two Amex Offers posts for July 2017 here and here, I decided to focus more on what these Offers provide since they’re both similar.
Check your Amex Offers to see which Offers are waiting for you.
Save 10%
If you hold a non-Membership Rewards earning American Express card, you’ll likely find Offers to get 10% back on your cell phone bill as well as your cable or satellite TV bill.
Payments must be made directly to the cell or cable/satellite providers via an online, mobile app or phone payment. Payments cannot be done in-person at service/retail centers and still qualify for the 10% back.
The cell phone bill credits apply only to AT&T, Sprint, T-Mobile, US Cellular or Verizon bills. Prepaid phones and plans are excluded from the 10% credit.
Deal ends 11/15/2017, and you can only receive a total of $30 in credits for each Offer.
Still, a 10% savings on your cell phone and cable/satellite bills, even if it’s only for a couple months, is better than nothing.
Earn Extra Membership Rewards
If you hold a Membership Rewards earning American Express card, your Offers provide 1,000 Membership Rewards Points when you pay your $100+ cell phone and cable/satellite bills with your enrolled card.
The extra points earning is good on single payments of $100+, and as with the above Offers, require payments to be made directly to the cell phone or cable/satellite provider via an online, mobile app or phone payment. No retail or service center payments.
And, as with the 10% back deal, the extra Membership Rewards for paying your $100+ cell phone bill are limited to AT&T, Sprint, T-Mobile, US Cellular and Verizon.
There’s a limit of 3,000 Membership Rewards points that can be earned from each of these Offers.
Which isn’t bad considering if you have high cell phone and cable bills, you could come out with 6,000 Membership Rewards Points just for using your enrolled American Express card to pay them.
The Offer Terms are somewhat lengthy, so if you plan on taking advantage of either set of these Offers, I’d encourage you to scan the fine print just to make sure you’re meeting all the requirements.
Overall, this is a pretty good deal…especially the easy 10% savings on your cell phone and cable/satellite TV bills over the next few months.
If I wasn’t currently earning 5x Ultimate Rewards points on those bills, I’d definitely jump on these Offers.
How about you?
