Amex Offers – December 2017

In a post titled “American Express Offers – A Great Way to Save” I wrote about the great savings opportunities that can be found if you are an American Express cardholder.

Here are a few recent additions to Amex Offers that could save you some cold, hard cash, and, for some, add to your Membership Rewards balance this holiday shopping season.  Offers may be targeted, so check your account for availability.

And always be sure to read the fine print of the individual Offers to make sure you’re not missing some important requirements.

Macy’s – SPEND $100 OR MORE AND GET $15 BACK AND EARN AN EXTRA MEMBERSHIP REWARDS POINT PER DOLLAR SPENT

The first Offer gives you a one-time $15 statement credit when your enrolled American Express card is used to spend $100+ in one or more transactions in-store or online at macys.com by 1/15/2018.

And to make shopping at Macy’s even more attractive, the second Offer will give you 2 Membership Rewards points per dollar spent when your enrolled card is used to make purchases online at macys.com.  The extra Membership Rewards point is only offered on online purchases, not for purchases made in-store.

Add both Offers to your card, head to macys.com to do your holiday shopping and you’ll get rewarded with a statement credit and extra MR points!

J. Crew – SPEND $125 OR MORE AND GET $25 BACK

Get a one-time $25 statement credit when your enrolled card is used to spend $125 or more in one or more transactions in-store or online at jcrew.com by 1/16/2018.

J. Crew Factory and other similarly affiliated stores are excluded from this deal.  See the Offer’s fine print for specifics.

As long as you’re shopping at a regular J. Crew store, or at jcrew.com, you’ll get the $25 statement credit when the minimum spend amount is met.

Sur La Table – SPEND $50 OR MORE AND GET $10 BACK

Get a one-time $10 statement credit when your enrolled card is used to make a minimum purchase of $50 in one or more transactions in-store or online at surlatable.com by 12/31/17.

Deal excludes purchases at in-store coffee shops, online cooking classes, and wine club purchases.

Bumble and Bumble – SPEND $75 OR MORE AND GET $20 BACK

Get a one-time $20 statement credit by using your enrolled American Express card to spend $75 or more in one or more transactions online at bumbleandbumble.com by 12/30/2017.

If someone on your list enjoys Bumble and Bumble styling products, here’s a chance to get something they’ll love while you save a little cash!

Offer valid for online purchases only.

Cheesecake Factory – SPEND $50 OR MORE AND GET 1,000 MEMBERSHIP REWARDS POINTS

Get 1,000 additional Membership Rewards points one-time by using your enrolled card to make a single purchase of $50+ in-restaurant at The Cheesecake Factory by 12/31/17.

All online purchases/orders are excluded from this Offer.

Also, the fine print says “Not valid for gift cards purchased online.”  However, it doesn’t seem to exclude gift cards purchased in-restaurant, so if you don’t have plans to dine at a Cheesecake Factory prior to the end of this year, but will in the future, or you want to give a Cheesecake Factory gift card to someone as a holiday present, purchasing gift cards at a restaurant should trigger the 1,000 Membership Rewards Offer.

Sam’s Club – GET 5X MEMBERSHIP REWARDS POINTS PER DOLLAR SPENT

With this Offer, you get 5X Membership Rewards points when you use your enrolled American Express card to make in-store purchases at Sam’s Club through 12/31/17.

There is a limit of 1,500 Membership Rewards points that can be earned from this Offer, meaning you’re limited to a spend of $300 that will earn the 5x points.

Which shouldn’t be too difficult if you’re doing any entertaining this holiday season.  Or, Sam’s Club sells a variety of gift cards at discounted prices…you could put a nice dent in that $300 by purchasing gift cards alone.

Or, if you haven’t read our piece on the great prescription drug prices you can get at Sam’s Club, you might want to give, “Sam’s Club Pharmacies Offer Great Savings on Prescription Drugs,” a look.  If you have an HSA, or other health insurance plan where you have to cover the cost of your prescription drugs, that surely would be an easy way to chip away at that $300.

Again, this Offer is valid in-Club only – no online or mobile app purchases will earn the 5X points.  And, Sam’s Club gas station purchases are excluded as well.

Beringer – SPEND $300 OR MORE AND GET $90 BACK

I added this Offer because it’s a hefty statement credit…30% off!  With the holidays, and especially New Year’s Eve, fast approaching, you may want to stock up on wine to make the season a little more festive.  This Offer will give a one-time $90 statement credit when your enrolled card is used to spend $300+ in one or more transactions in-store at Beringer, or online at beringer.com, by 2/20/2018.

Amazon

This next Amex Offer has been around for a while.  Maybe you added it to your card, but have yet to use it, or left it on your list as a reminder for your Amazon holiday shopping spree.

Well, now’s the time to use it.

Amazon – SPEND $50+ AND GET 2,000 MEMBERSHIP REWARDS POINTS

This is a pretty easy way to add 2,000 Membership Rewards points to your account.  Simply use your enrolled American Express card to spend $50 cumulatively on amazon.com by 12/31/17, and get 2,000 MR points. Couldn’t be easier.
