Try the T-Mobile Network Free for 30-Days with This Test Drive Promotion

One of the main reasons many are reluctant to move to a different wireless provider, even if it may result in lower monthly bills and more benefits, is just not knowing what the service will be like at the locations where most of their time is spent.

Even more than real estate, reliable wireless service is dependent on location, location and location.

While a coverage map may show full network access in your area, your location-specific experience may be much different.

For example, your friend who lives across town might swear by one wireless provider’s network quality and reliability. But when you give it a try at your home, or office, you just can’t get a reliable signal.

And it’s that fear of switching providers only to find out your home, office, and/or commute just doesn’t receive reliable service that keeps many from considering other wireless options.

T-Mobile gets that concern, which is why it’s offering a “Test Drive” to consumers interested in the T-Mobile service.

T-Mobile Test Drive

T-Mobile is letting non-T-Mobile customers “try before you buy” with this Test Drive promotion.

Test Drive allows individuals interested in T-Mobile to try its network at their home, work and everyday locations to get a feel for how the T-Mobile network would work for them.

Prospective T-Mobile customers will be provided a free hotspot that connects to the T-Mobile network to use for 30 days.

Customers will connect to the hotspot using their own phone, phone number and apps to try the T-Mobile network.

According to T-Mobile’s press release on the Test Drive campaign, “In addition to inviting people for a free trial, T-Mobile is rolling out a new campaign to illustrate just how far its newest, most powerful signal, 600 MHz, reaches (hint: it’s farther than ever before). And the Un-carrier network is expanding every day, powered by 600 MHz, which is only available from T-Mobile. 600 MHz signals go twice as far from the tower and work four times better in buildings than mid-band signals. So, T-Mobile can provide better coverage in rural areas, hard-to-reach places and deep inside buildings. This is the same signal that will form the foundation for T-Mobile’s future nationwide 5G network.”

Obviously, this is a marketing campaign for T-Mobile, and the claims in the quote above are just that, claims of better service as a result of expanded coverage and a 600 MHz signal.

Which may or may not be true for your specific situation.

The difference, though, is that T-Mobile is allowing those new to T-Mobile to test the wireless provider’s claims before committing to the service.

Which makes the T-Mobile Test Drive a pretty good deal.

The only downside that I see, unless I’m missing something, is that actual cellular call quality and reliability won’t be able to be tested due to the connection to T-Mobile’s network being made via a wireless hotspot.

I welcome any corrections to my concern.

You will be able to check wireless data speed and connectivity, but voice – other than Wi-Fi calling – won’t be part of the test.

How to Take Advantage of the Test Drive

The steps below come straight from T-Mobile’s Test Drive press release.

  1. Sign up for T-Mobile Test Drive at www.t-mobile.com/testdrive. T-Mobile will send carrier customers a Coolpad Surf Device hotspot. For free.
  2. Turn on the hotspot, and it’ll connect to T-Mobile’s LTE network, and connect your Verizon, AT&T, Sprint, Xfinity Mobile or any carrier smartphone to it via Wi-Fi.
  3. Experience T-Mobile’s data coverage for up to 30 days or 30 GB, whichever comes first.
  4. After the trial, drop the hotspot off at any T-Mobile store or hand it off to a friend. Hell, put it under that wobbly table leg. That’s it.

Wrap Up

The cost of cellular service takes up more and more of our monthly budgets.

In fact, for many, it’s one of the larger monthly expenditures.

Finding less expensive wireless alternatives, while maintaining adequate service, is the goal of many.

But, as I said earlier, switching to other services without first knowing how that specific service will work for you can be a waste of time and money.

Which is why the T-Mobile Test Drive promotion is not only a shrewd marketing move on T-Mobile’s part but also a good opportunity for wireless consumers.

If you’ve ever considered switching to T-Mobile but have been concerned about its network reliability in your area, here’s an opportunity to give it a try with no commitment and absolutely free.

Now that’s a pretty good deal.
