Chase Offers Ending This Month
|Update: While the Chase Offers program ended as of March 31, 2018, Chase did provide a glimmer of hope that it might be brought back in the future. We’ll be sure to watch for signs of the program’s reincarnation and report them as soon as details are known.
Well, that was a quick experiment.
Chase Offers will be ending March 31, 2018.
Chase Offers
We first wrote about Chase’s foray into the Offers game last November.
It was little publicized by Chase, and the Offers were only available on the Chase Slate and Chase Marriott Rewards Premier credit cards, a very small number of Chase’s credit card offerings.
Obviously, they were “test marketing” the program to see what interest it drew. Considering roughly six months later, they’re pulling the plug, the interest must not have been strong.
I used a few of the Chase Offers to save a few bucks here and there on purchases I was going to make anyway, so for me, the program was (somewhat) beneficial.
The problem I had, and likely others, too, was that the Chase credit cards associated with the Offers program were not my go-to cards.
If Chase had linked the Offers program to the Chase Sapphire Preferred or Chase Freedom cards, it would have been much more valuable.
Having to pull the Marriott Rewards card out from the “sock drawer” to take advantage of a deal just wasn’t what I wanted to do to save 10 percent on a $30 dinner tab, or $10 off a $40 spend at 1800Flowers.com.
But, maybe that was part of Chase’s strategy. Give people an incentive to use certain cards more often. If so, the strategy, obviously, didn’t work.
Still Time to Take Advantage
While the Chase Offers program is ending in just over a week, Chase is still making clear, on the Offers page, it’s still open for business.
So, if you’ve been a user of Chase Offers in the past, jump on in there and take advantage of those last few deals. As long as you add the Offers to your card and make the purchase prior to March 31, 2018, you should see the applicable statement credit.
If you do hold the Chase Slate or Marriott Rewards Premier cards but have not yet signed up for the Chase Offers program, I’m not so sure it’s worth it at this point.
On to Amex Offers
With the demise of the Chase Offers program, I’ll just put my focus back on Amex Offers.
They’ve usually provided a wider array of Offers – even if a number are for retailers I would never visit – some of which provide significant savings. And, some others, if played right, that can be extremely lucrative.
So, goodbye Chase Offers, it was nice taking advantage of the savings you offered while it was available.
