Chase Jumps into the “Offers” Game

Chase recently unveiled Chase Offers, a program similar to Amex Offers, which provides savings opportunities at a variety of retailers and restaurants when the Chase Offer is activated and the credit card on which the Offer was activated is used to pay.

It appears, Chase has limited its new Offers program to the Chase Marriott Rewards Premier credit card.  Hopefully, we’ll see the Offers expanded to other Chase credit cards, as well.

Update: Chase Slate credit cards are also eligible for Chase Offers. You can register your Slate card here.

For now, though, you can only take advantage of the Chase Offers if you have the Marriott Rewards or Slate card in your credit card arsenal.

And, you’ll need to set up a Chase Offers account to see what Offers are available and take advantage of the savings.

Set Up Your Chase Offers Account

Marriott Rewards cardholders can register/link their accounts here.

You’ll be asked for your email address, then the Marriott Rewards card number of the card you want to link and, finally, where you are located.  The location information is likely so that Offers can be tailored to savings deals in your vicinity.

Once your Marriott Rewards and/or Slate credit card(s) is/are registered with Chase Offers, you’ll be able to see, activate, and utilize the various deals.

Chase Offers

As of now, it seems many of the Offers are for a certain percentage off (i.e. 10%) a purchase amount.  The percentage of savings is capped at a certain dollar amount, specific to the individual Offer.

Although, there are some Offers that provide a specific dollar amount of savings when a spend threshold is met, or a purchase is simply made.

As mentioned before, the Chase Offers program is almost identical to American Express’ Amex Offers – add (activate) Offers that are of interest to you, use the card to which you added the Offers to pay, and receive an automatic statement credit in the amount advertised in the Offer.

Saving money couldn’t be easier.

Wrap Up

It’s great to see Chase adding an Offers program to its Marriott Rewards and Slate credit cards.

Obviously, it’s an attempt to get more people actively using their Marriott Rewards cards.  This may, or may not, have something to do with the Marriott/SPG merger, and how the co-branded credit card landscape, both for Chase and American Express, will shake out in the next year.

My hope is that the Chase Offers are not simply a tool to attract/keep active users to the Marriott Rewards card, but that Chase will expand the program to all its credit cards as American Express has done with its Amex Offers program.

Only time will tell regarding an expansion.  The fact that Slate cards are part of the Offers program, too, is a promising sign.

Until then, if you have a Marriott Rewards or Slate credit card, definitely register for the Chase Offers program and take full advantage of the savings offers that you find of interest.

And, as we do with Amex Offers, we’ll post interesting Chase Offers as they become available.
