Let me begin by saying this is by no means an incredible deal.

However, for a family who’s looking for a quality, economical phone option to couple with an additional line, or an individual new to Verizon who isn’t bringing his/her own device and doesn’t care about the latest and greatest technology, this is a deal to consider.

Verizon Wireless iPhone 6S Deal

Important to note upfront, this deal requires activation of a new Verizon Wireless line of service.

With that new line activation comes a one-time fee of $30.

For the phone portion, you’ll be billed $5 per month for 24 months for the 32GB version of the iPhone 6S.  You can also get a 128GB version for $10 per month.

The $5 per month charge will be the result of a monthly (promo) statement credit of $9.58 off the regular monthly price of $14.58.

Which means, you’ll effectively be locked into a 24-month service contract with Verizon.

We’ve seen similar deals in previous years where you could activate a line, pay for a month of service and then pay the device off, in-full, at the deal price, leaving Verizon for less expensive cell service providers.

That is not the case with this deal.

While you are getting a deal on the phone price ($5 x 24 = $120 vs. $349.99 to purchase outright) you will, again, be locked in to paying Verizon’s monthly cell service fee, the exact amount depending on the plan you choose.

$55 (plus tax and fees) appears to be the least expensive one-line plan currently offered by Verizon.  Of course, your monthly fee may be less if you’re adding a new line to an existing shared data service plan.

This deal is good on online purchases/activations only.  You won’t get this deal if you go into a Verizon Wireless retail location.

The promo credit will be applied to your account within 1-2 billing cycles.

And if you cancel the line of service prior to the end of the 24-month period, you’ll likely owe the remaining balance of the $349.99 less the $5 monthly payments you’ve already made.

Wrap Up

If you already had plans to add a new line of service with Verizon Wireless but didn’t want to pay a $20, $30, or more per month charge for a phone, this deal might be for you.

Granted, you’re not getting the most recent Apple technology, but the iPhone 6S is still a good phone which should last at least through the 24-month period associated with this deal.

And the phone price you’ll be paying is much better than what Verizon normally charges.

That said, if you’re looking for a real deal on a phone and cell service, there are better ways to go.
