The New Chase and Lyft Partnership

It was just announced that Chase and Lyft have teamed to offer benefits to Chase credit card holders.

According to a post on the Lyft Blog, “Beginning Jan 12, millions of cardmembers across Chase-branded credit cards can earn additional points or cash back, as well as an enhanced Lyft experience with Lyft Pink when they use eligible Chase cards on their Lyft accounts, through March 2022.”

The Chase Cards

Cards that are part of this new Chase and Lyft partnership include:

  • Chase Sapphire Preferred
  • Chase Freedom
  • Chase Freedom Unlimited
  • Chase Freedom Student
  • Chase Ink business cards

These Chase cards will earn 5x Ultimate Rewards points (or 5% cash back, depending on the specific card used) on Lyft rides.

Additionally, the Chase Sapphire Reserve will earn 10x Ultimate Rewards points on Lyft rides and each account will get one free year of Lyft Pink, Lyft’s membership program that offers 15% off card rides, priority airport pickups, relaxed cancellations, and more.

Chase Sapphire Reserve cardmembers can activate his/her Lyft Pink membership by setting the Reserve card as the default payment method in the Lyft app, and in-app messaging will guide eligible cardmembers through the complimentary enrollment.

Wrap Up

Chase and Lyft have created a partnership where select Chase credit card holders will earn bonus Ultimate Rewards points/cash back on Lyft rides.

And Chase Sapphire Reserve cardmembers will receive a complimentary Lyft Pink membership in addition to 10x points earning cardholders will receive on Lyft rides.

While the partnership provides benefits to current cardholders, there does appear to be an end date of March 2022, after which we’ll just have to see what happens.

On a somewhat related note, yesterday we wrote about DoorDash benefits being added to select Chase credit cards, including the Sapphire Reserve card. Now we’re seeing Lyft benefits being added as well. These are positive changes for the Reserve card, however, rumor has it that some not so positive changes – annual fee increase – may be on the horizon. We’ll keep you updated.
