Stock Up on At-Home Covid Tests with This Third Round of Free Covid Test Kits
|Want to add to your stockpile of at-home Covid tests? Here’s your chance.
The U.S. government is offering a third round of Covid-19 test kits free of charge.
The first round of free Covid tests was made available to U.S. households in January 2022, after the government finalized orders for roughly 500 million rapid Covid-19 tests.
As of the end of February 2022, roughly half of that 500 million number had not been claimed.
Which is likely the reason a second push was made a few months ago.
And now a third round of free test kits is being offered.
As we said in our last free Covid test post, since the U.S. government, via your tax dollars, has already paid for these tests, you might as well place your order and get what you paid for.
Third Round of Free Covid Tests
You can view the official government Covid Tests page to begin your order and/or get more information on Covid testing at the link below.
U.S. Government Covid Tests Website
You’ll be able to order 2 sets of free at-home tests (8 total tests) with this third round opportunity.
And, to be clear, that includes households that placed orders via the initial free Covid test offering in January and the second one around March.
You’ll now be able to get 2 more free sets of tests.
Per the USPS site:
Residential households in the U.S. are now eligible for another order of free at-home tests on USPS.com. Here’s what you need to know about your order:
- Each order now includes 8 rapid antigen COVID-19 tests
- Your order of 8 tests will come in 2 separate packages (4 tests in each package), each with its own tracking number
- Packages will ship free
You can fill out the order form at the link below.

Insurance Coverage of Tests
If you have private health insurance, you may be able to order free Covid tests from them as well. Or, get reimbursed for the purchase price of up to 8 at-home tests each month if your insurance company isn’t providing them directly.
Just keep in mind, while the U.S. government has framed this as insurance companies providing these tests free of charge, that’s not actually how it’ll play out.
You’ll pay when your health insurance plan offerings are renegotiated later this year and your monthly premiums increase for the coming year.
