Save on Hotel Stays and Your Insurance Bill with These Amex Offers

In a post titled “American Express Offers – A Great Way to Save” I wrote about the great savings opportunities that can be found if you are an American Express cardholder.

Here are a few recent additions to Amex Offers that could save you some cold, hard cash on your upcoming travels via hotel statement credits as well as the opportunity to save 10% on your insurance bill.  Offers may be targeted, so check your account for availability.

And always be sure to read the fine print of the individual Offers to make sure you’re not missing some important requirements.

Get 10% Back on Your Insurance Bill

Use your enrolled American Express card to make a payment on your insurance bill by 12/31/18 and get 10% back in the form of a statement credit.

There is a $20 statement credit limit…which translates to a total of $200 worth of insurance payments.  The payment must be made directly with the merchant in order to qualify and register.

The Offer’s fine print also states: “…you may not receive the statement credit if your transaction is made with an electronic wallet or through a third party or if the merchant uses a mobile or wireless card reader to process it.”

Amex is definitely giving itself wiggle room here, so if you’re going to take advantage of this Offer, a direct charge from your insurer would be the safest route to go.

And, considering recent actions by Amex, some users may want to pay particular attention to this Amex language which is part of the Offer: “Limit 1 enrolled Card per Card Member across all American Express offer channels.”

Hotel Offers

Ritz-Carlton – Spend $500 or more and get $100 back

Get a one-time $100 statement credit when you use your enrolled card to spend $500 or more on room rate and room charges when you pay for your Ritz stay from 8/29/18 to 12/24/18.

Offer valid only at The Ritz-Carlton in the US, Puerto Rico, US Virgin Islands, Canada, Mexico, Aruba, and Cayman Islands. Reservations must be made online at ritzcarlton.com, via the Ritz-Carlton App or by calling 1-800-542-8680.

There’s an extensive list of exclusions, so if you’re planning on using this Offer, be sure to read its fine print completely.

And, we’ll likely be seeing this language on most, if not all, Amex Offers going forward, so heed it closely…”Limit 1 enrolled Card per Card Member across all American Express offer channels.”

The days of really taking advantage of Amex Offers may be over.

Marriott – Spend $300 or more and get $60 back

Get a one-time $60 statement credit by using your enrolled Amex card to spend $300+ on room rate and room charges with Marriott from 8/27/18 to 10/25/18.

Offer valid only at participating Marriott® brands in the U.S and U.S. territories, including: JW Marriott®, Autograph Collection®, Renaissance® Hotels, Marriott Hotels®, Delta Hotels®, Gaylord Hotels®, AC Hotels by Marriott®, Courtyard®, Residence Inn®, SpringHill Suites®, Fairfield Inn by Marriott®, TownePlace Suites® and Moxy® Hotels.

Embassy Suites, Homewood Suites and Home2 – Spend $250 or more and get $50 back

Use your enrolled American Express card to spend $250 or more on room rate and room charges at Embassy Suites, Homewood Suites or Home2 properties from 8/27/18 to 11/15/18 and get a $50 statement credit.

As with the other two hotel Offers, be sure to check the fine print if you’re interested in taking advantage.

And, the limit of one enrolled card is in effect for this Offer as well.

These hotel Offers are great if you’re planning an upcoming getaway.  While it’s not a huge amount, it’s always nice to save a little on your travel costs…if you can’t use hotel points to stay for free, that is.  And if you travel for business, these hotel Offers might come in handy, too.
