Predicting which streaming services will increase prices in 2025: Netflix, Apple TV+, Disney+, and others

In 2024, almost every streaming service raised prices, and it looks like the trend will continue into 2025. However, not all streamers are likely to increase their rates this year.

On-demand streaming services like Netflix, Apple TV+, and Prime Video are expected to raise prices in 2025. Netflix, with its growing array of live sporting events and other content, will likely see a modest increase of $1 to $2 per month. Apple TV+, which did not raise prices in 2024, is expected to do so this year. Prime Video, which made its plan ad-supported last year, may also raise subscription rates to achieve profitability.

On the other hand, Disney+, Hulu, and ESPN+ are unlikely to raise prices in 2025. Disney raised prices in 2024 and will be launching the ESPN Flagship service, which may provide a new revenue stream. HBO Max, Paramount+, and Peacock are also expected to keep their prices stable this year.

In the live TV streaming space, services like DIRECTV STREAM and Fubo* are likely to raise prices in 2025, with new channel packages and options being introduced. Meanwhile, Hulu + Live TV*, Philo, Sling TV, and YouTube TV are expected to keep their prices steady for the time being.

*After the writing of this post, it was announced Hulu + Live TV and Fubo will be merging.  How that will affect pricing for the merged service is in question.

As streaming services continue to strive for profitability, consumers should expect ongoing price increases in the coming year. It remains to be seen how subscribers will respond to these changes in the streaming landscape.
