On Hiatus
|Savings Beagle is on hiatus, but that doesn’t mean our money-saving tips, tricks and strategies are hidden away.
Here are some of our popular frugal-living topic areas that just might benefit your bottom line.
DirecTV
If you subscribe to DirecTV, you know the monthly bills can get out-of-hand once your initial promotions run out. You don’t have to pay those exorbitant amounts, though.
Read “Here’s How My 2018 Lower-My-Bill Call to DirecTV Went” to see my latest deal, and then “Lower Your DirecTV Bill with These Tips” to see how you can do it, too.
Concerts, Sporting Events, the Theater and More
If attending live events is your thing, read “Review: StubHub vs. SeatGeek” to see which ticket reseller might save you the most on your next ticket purchase.
Travel
Traveling can bring about life-changing experiences. Unfortunately, it also can be quite expensive.
But, it doesn’t have to be.
The strategies we lay out in our series Miles and Points 101 can save those willing to put forth the effort huge amounts on travel expenses…even bringing airfare and hotel costs close to zero. No gimmicks here. With the desire and a little bit of effort, it can happen. Just be sure to read “Six Reasons You Should Not Play the Miles and Points Game,” first.
Get Something for Your Credit Card Spend
If your credit card isn’t working for you, then it’s time to rethink the card(s) you’re using.
First, if you carry a balance, you should have the absolute lowest interest rate possible on that card. If you have to apply for another card to balance transfer to a lower (or even 0%) interest rate then start the research.
No balance? Now it’s time to make your credit card spend work for you.
Pick what you want most, cash back, travel rewards, multi-use points? What you don’t want is a credit card that does absolutely nothing!
I’m a big fan of the Chase lineup of cards. You can earn cash back, but with the right combo of cards that cash back can be turned into variable use Ultimate Rewards points, great for travel, but usable for other financial benefits, too. Read “Why I Love Ultimate Rewards Points and You Should Too” for details
Many American Express cards are good options, as well. Read “The Best American Express Cards for Accessing Amex Offers” for a few card suggestions.
And of course, be sure to check out “American Express Offers – A Great Way to Save,” and “Chase Offers are Back – Do You Know Where to Find Them?” to maximize the saving opportunities when using Chase or American Express cards.
Cut the Cord
Cable and satellite companies are starting to feel the pinch from customers tired of continued price increases and mediocre service moving on. Many are giving the various streaming entertainment options a try instead.
Not to say streaming services aren’t without their own issues. But at least prices are typically lower and there’s no service commitment to worry about.
Here are a few of our top picks for streaming TV that may fill the void should you decide to give cord cutting a try.

Pricing and channel lineups are likely different than what you’ll read in our initial review posts above. Read them for a general overview of the streaming TV offerings each provides, and check current pricing and channel offerings at the websites for each.
General Money-Saving and Deals
Of course, you’ll find a wide variety of specific money-saving and deals posts if you just click around the Savings Beagle site.
While most will likely be dated, the tips and associated strategies to get the deals can be utilized on future money-saving opportunities.
We at Savings Beagle understand that in this day and age, saving money is hard – that’s why we’re here, helping to make your financial situation a little better.
