Get $30 Back with This Hyatt Credit Card Promotion
|Hyatt credit card holders are being offered $30 back in the form of a statement credit when the Hyatt card is used to spend $300 or more on in-store purchases at grocery stores or drug stores during the month of February.
The Hyatt card statement credit promotion runs from 2/1/18 through 2/28/18 and only qualifying purchases will count toward the $300 minimum spend.
You must register for this promotion prior to February 28, 2018, to be eligible for the $30 statement credit.
If you currently hold a Chase Hyatt credit card, check your email (Spam folder) for your registration email titled, Get Rewarded This February. Then click the Register Now button and you’ll be taken to a page where your World of Hyatt membership number is populated – you just have to enter your Hyatt credit card number and click Register.
And, as with any promotion, there’s fine-print to read. Below is what the promotion constitutes as grocery stores, drug stores and a qualifying purchases. Click images to enlarge.
How to Play
The most obvious way to take advantage of this deal is to pay for all your grocery and drug store purchases with your Hyatt card during the month of February. For most, that will easily hit the $300 amount necessary to trigger the $30 statement credit. And Bam, an easy 10% savings on your grocery/drug store spend.
If you don’t have $300 of spend at grocery or drug stores in a typical month, you can’t find better retail options for buying gift cards.
Most grocery stores and drug stores stock any kind of gift card you can imagine. And if you don’t have a specific gift card need, a plain old Visa, MasterCard or American Express gift card or two totaling $300+ will get you the credit. Even after the associated fees, you’ll still come out ahead…while earning Hyatt points in the process.
The Hyatt credit card
Not a Hyatt credit card holder? If you enjoy traveling and staying in quality hotels along the way, you really should consider getting the Hyatt card. I wrote a review of the Hyatt credit card a while back, and even though some things have changed…which I noted via updates to the post…much of the review still applies.
Here’s a quick overview of the card’s benefits:
- 40,000 World of Hyatt points after making $2,000 in purchases in the first 3 months from account opening
- 5,000 World of Hyatt bonus points when an authorized user is added to your account and a purchase is made with that card during the first 3 months as a cardmember
- 1 free night at any category 1 – 4 Hyatt every year after your cardmember anniversary
- $75 annual fee
- Earn 3 Hyatt points for every $1 spent on purchases at all Hyatt properties
- Earn 2 Hyatt points for every $1 spent at restaurants, on airline tickets purchased directly from the airline and at car rental agencies
- Earn 1 Hyatt point for all other purchases
- The Hyatt card provides World of Hyatt Discoverist status, which includes 10% point bonus on eligible spend (Hyatt Hotels), complimentary in-room Internet access, and late checkout to name a few of the benefits
The annual free night benefit alone is more than worth the $75 annual fee.
If you apply now, you should still be able to get the Hyatt card in time to take advantage of the grocery/drug store credit during February. And right there, you’ll have knocked off $300 of your $2,000 minimum spend to get the 40,000 Hyatt points!

Wrap Up
While a $30 statement credit isn’t earth-shattering, it’s not a bad deal, either. And, for most, the $300 spend requirement should be pretty easy to reach.
It’s nice to see Chase and Hyatt continuing these statement credit offers every so often. A nice little perk for those who hold the Hyatt credit card.
