We saw similar Southwest Airlines Companion Pass promos the last few years at this time, and now it's back.  For some, this can be a really good deal.

Chase and Southwest have brought back a unique sign-up bonus that offers 30,000 Rapid Rewards points and a Companion Pass to use through February 28, 2025.

All three Southwest personal cards have this offer available and require a $4,000 spend within the first 3 months from card approval to earn the 30,000 points and Companion Pass.

You will need to pay the annual fee associated with the card you apply for on your first month's statement.

This sign-up bonus is good through March 11, 2024.

If you're hoping to travel later this year, this Southwest credit card deal would likely make your and your traveling companion's airfare essentially free (you do have to pay $5.60 per travel segment to cover fees).

Keep in mind the Chase sign-up bonus rules associated with these cards..."This product is available to you if you do not have a current Southwest Rapid Rewards^® Credit Card and have not received a new Cardmember bonus for this card in the past 24 months. This does not apply to Business Card and Employee Credit Card products."

And, of course, Chase's 5/24 rule that basically says if you've been approved for 5 or more credit cards from any issuer in the previous 24 months you will not be approved for a Chase card.

Those restrictions aside, this is a decent offer for those wanting to cut travel expenses in the next year. 

Referral Bonus and Links

If you already have one of the Chase Southwest credit cards, you can refer others to any of the Chase Southwest cards and earn 20,000 Rapid Rewards points for each approval.  There is a max of 100,000 points that can be earned via referrals in a year...but that's a nice chunk of Rapid Reward points that can get you a lot of free flying, especially if you have the Companion Pass, too. 

And, referral Rapid Rewards points count toward earning the traditional Companion Pass where 135,000 qualifying points are needed to earn the Pass.
