Chase Marriott Bonvoy Boundless Card Offering 5 Free Nights as a Sign Up Bonus Again

The Marriott Bonvoy Boundless Card from Chase is offering a 5-night sign-up bonus once again.

Some view this 5 free night sign-up bonus as very good, while others prefer a points sign-up bonus, and will give this deal a pass.  If you're in the former camp, you're in luck.

Marriott Bonvoy Boundless Card - 5 free nights (up to points category 50,000/night after spending $5,000 within the first 3 months from card approval.

If maxed, from a points perspective, this could be considered a 250,000 Marriott Bonvoy points sign-up bonus.  That's probably not the way to view this bonus, though.   Plus, it's Bonvoy points.

The $95 annual fee is not waived the first year and will be billed on the first statement after application approval.

Some of the card's benefits include:

Earn 6x Marriott points per dollar at Marriott properties

Earn 3x Marriott points per dollar spent - up to the first $6,000 in combined spend - at grocery stores, gas stations and dining.

Earn 2x Marriott points per dollar spent on all other purchases

Free Night Award every year after your account anniversary (35,000 Marriott Bonvoy points level or below hotels)

Complimentary Silver Elite Status (Earn Gold Elite Status after making $35,000 in eligible purchases each account year)

You can see the additional benefits associated with this card at its link above.

This is a Chase card, meaning it is subject to Chase's 5/24 approval restrictions.  If you've been approved for 5 or more credit cards from any bank in the last 24 months, you will not be approved for this, or any, Chase credit card.

Additionally, due to both Chase and American Express offering Marriott credit cards, significant other restrictions apply for getting approved for the card, as well as being eligible for the sign-up bonus.  I'll copy and paste those restrictions from the Chase Offer Terms.

This credit card is not available to you if (1) you currently have any of the following cards or (2) you received a new cardmember bonus for any of the following cards within the last 24 months: Marriott Bonvoy® Premier credit card, Marriott Rewards® Premier credit card, Marriott Bonvoy Boundless® credit card, Marriott Rewards® Premier Plus credit card, Marriott Bonvoy Bold® credit card.

The new cardmember bonus is not available to you if (1) you currently have or had any of the following cards within the last 30 days: Marriott Bonvoy® American Express® Card, The Starwood Preferred Guest® Credit Card from American Express; or if (2) you applied and were approved for any of the following cards within the last 90 days or (3) received a new cardmember bonus or upgrade bonus for any of the following cards within the last 24 months: Marriott Bonvoy Business® American Express® Card, Starwood Preferred Guest® Business Credit Card from American Express, Marriott Bonvoy Brilliant® American Express®Card, Starwood Preferred Guest® American Express Luxury Card, Marriott Bonvoy Bevy American Express® Card.

As you can see, both Chase and American Express issue Marriott credit cards, and the rules as to sign-up bonus and card eligibility can get confusing.

If you've never held a Marriott credit card, it's not an issue.

If you have had any other Marriott credit card, read the above restrictions carefully so you don't make an application for nothing.

While the 5 nights may sound good, you have to consider the hotels that fall into the 50,000 points per night range and below to know if this sign-up bonus is a winner for you. Here's Marriott's Award Chart for reference...or search specific Marriott properties to check award pricing for specific dates.

Add points to increase a free night certificate's value...Marriott now allows you to add up to 15,000 Bonvoy points to any free night certificate when redeeming.  Which means you should be able to use the free night certificates earned from this sign-up bonus for hotels pricing up to 65,000 Bonvoy points per night.  That, of course, is if you have the Bonvoy points in your account to use.

This sign-up bonus does have value as long as the 5 free nights will work for your travel plans.

Just be aware of Marriott's award program and redemption options, as well as Chase's significant restrictions for getting this card and its sign-up bonus, before making an application.
