United, American and Alaska airlines are offering a “2020 Bonus Mile Dash” promotion which provides incremental bonus points earning on shopping done via an airline’s online shopping portal.
All three airlines are offering the same promo, the specifics of which are:
For each $50+ purchase, 500 bonus miles are earned up to 2,020 miles.
You must register with your preferred airline shopping portal – or all three if you’ll be doing a lot of shopping – before making your purchases.
The promo runs today, May 11, 2020, through May 18, 2020 at 11:59:59 Eastern Time for American Airlines.
And May 11, 2020, through May 19, 2020, for United and Alaska.
The promo is based on individual qualifying purchases of $50 or more.
Which means, to earn the 1,000 bonus miles, you’d have to make 2 individual qualifying purchases of $50 or more.
And for 1500 bonus miles, 3 individual qualifying purchases of $50 or more would need to be made.
Which makes this promo somewhat less appealing, at least in my view.
It would be more attractive if, for example, one purchase of $200+ would qualify for the 2,020 bonus points. But that’s not how this promo works. It would need to be 4 separate purchases of $50 or more to earn the 2,020 bonus points.
And, as with most of these airline shopping portal bonus promotions, shipping and handling, and taxes, do not count toward qualifying spend amounts.
