Earn Thousands of Delta SkyMiles with Their Latest Promo
|Delta Airlines recently announced a new promotion in which you can get 1,000 SkyMiles for each new SkyMiles partner you use between March 24, 2017 and June 30, 2017.
Registration is required and can be done at this link.
So, exactly how does this work? Well, I’ll begin by providing the official Terms and Conditions of the promotion, after which I’ll provide some examples of ways to earn those miles.
TERMS AND CONDITIONS
Member eligibility: This offer is open to All SkyMiles Members except those residing in the APAC Region.
Offer Registration: offer registration is required.
Offer: Registered SkyMiles members will earn a bonus of 1,000 miles for every new participating non-airline partner they earn miles with between March 24, 2017 to June 30, 2017. The term “New” refers to a partner the member has not earned miles with during the period from March 24, 2016 to March 23, 2017.
Participating Partners: The following non-airline partners are participating in this offer: Credit Card Partners, Hotels, Car Rental, Limo & Shuttle, Cruises and Vacations, Dining, Retail and Specialty, Financial Partners, SkyMiles Shopping and SkyMiles Dining. For a list of partners in each category, please click here. Other categories of partners, including airline partners and Citibank Asia are expressly excluded from this offer.
Eligibility of Transactions: Only accrual partner transactions with an activity date between March 24, 2017 to June 30, 2017 will be considered for bonuses. Activity date is defined as the date of the transaction as reported by the partner regardless of the date the transaction is posted in the member’s account. Some partners offer multiple ways to earn miles under different products, brands, merchants, conversion of currency to miles, etc. These will still be considered as a single partner. Some examples of these cases are: Hotels booked via delta.com Hotels or Agoda.com, merchants under the SkyMiles Shopping program, restaurants under the SkyMiles Dining program, Cruises under the SkyMiles Cruises program, hotel brands under the same Hotel portfolio, partner activity and a points conversion to miles from the same partner and others.
Please allow up to 60 days after the qualifying transaction for bonus miles to be added in your account.
Delta may change the SkyMiles program rules, change or terminate program partners, regulations, benefits, conditions of participation or mileage levels, in whole or in part, at any time with or without notice, even though changes may affect the value of mileage already accumulated. This offer may be terminated by Delta at any time, with our without notice. All SkyMiles program rules apply to SkyMiles program membership, miles, offers, mile accrual, mile redemption, and travel benefits. Offers void where prohibited by law. Other restrictions may apply. To review the rules, please visit delta.com/memberguide.
Delta, SkyMiles, and the Delta logo are registered service marks of Delta Air Lines, Inc.

Non-Airline Partners
I’m not going to cover all non-partner airline options for earning the 1,000 Delta miles, just a few so you get the idea. You can click the partner’s link in the Terms and Conditions to see specific entities.
A few easy opportunities for earning the bonus 1,000 SkyMiles are:
SkyMiles Dining
If you’re not already a member of the SkyMiles Dining program, it’s easy to sign-up. And, for new members, you’ll be eligible to earn 3,000 bonus miles if you meet the stated requirements – minimum dollar amount per dine, 3 dines total, reviews of each dine, all in the first 30 days – on top of the 1,000 SkyMiles just for using the dining program between March 24 and June 30.
If you’re already a member, simply stop by a restaurant which participates in the dining program, have a meal (or just a drink) and earn an easy 1,000 SkyMiles.
New members can learn more and join at the SkyMiles Dining site.
SkyMiles Shopping Portal
Earn the 1,000 SkyMiles promo bonus simply by logging into the SkyMiles Shopping portal before making your next online purchase.
And, depending on which retailer you’re buying at, you’ll earn multiple Delta miles per dollar spent as well.
So, miles on your total purchase amount and the 1,000 SkyMiles promo bonus. Not bad.
Click the SkyMiles Shopping portal link to start shopping now!
FTD.com
If you don’t want to bother with the SkyMiles Shopping portal, just click on over to FTD.com, order some flowers for that special someone – earning 20 SkyMiles/dollar – and earn the 1,000 SkyMiles promo bonus just like that.
Be sure to use the Delta SkyMiles FTD.com link and input your SkyMiles account number prior to checkout to get the promo bonus miles.
Other Partners
Other partners at which the 1,000 miles can be earned include:
- credit card partners
- hotels
- rental cars
- car service and shuttles
- cruise and vacation packages
- financial partners
See the full listing of partners at this link.
While not completely clear from the Terms and Conditions, it appears that only one 1,000 SkyMile bonus can be earned from each partner category.
Meaning, if you use the SkyMiles Dining program to earn the 1,000 mile bonus after one restaurant visit, a second restaurant visit will not receive another 1,000 miles. Too bad, you could really build your SkyMiles balance by visiting multiple restaurants and only ordering an appetizer or iced tea. Thousands of miles for very little money. Alas, that would be too good to be true.
The same likely applies to the SkyMiles Shopping portal – one purchase gets the bonus miles, subsequent purchases will not.
However, that’s not exactly clear, so if your experience is different, please share in the comments.
Lots of SkyMiles to be Had
As you can see, it could be fairly easy to rack up thousands of SkyMiles with this promo, especially if you have travel plans prior to June 30 where Delta partner hotels and car rental companies can be used.
At a minimum, you should be able to add 2,000 SkyMiles to your account by using the dining program and shopping portal.
And if you’ve been targeted for a sizable sign-up bonus (60,000 SkyMiles or more) on one of the Delta SkyMiles credit cards, that would add 1,000 miles to your sign-up bonus right there. I would not, however, waste an application on the lower bonus offers (30,000 SkyMiles) just for this promo. And remember, American Express has instituted the one-sign-up-bonus-per-applicant-lifetime rule. If you’ve received a sign-up bonus for a specific Delta card in the past, you won’t get it again.
SkyMiles aren’t the best airline miles out there, but when you can earn thousands for doing very little, why not?
