Shopping at Amazon just got a little more rewarding when you use your American Express Hilton Honors credit card to pay.
Now through January 29, 2019, when you use your enrolled Hilton Honors credit card to pay for your Amazon purchases, you’ll earn an extra 10 Honors points per dollar spent on up to $500 in eligible purchases. That’s on top of the base Honors points your Hilton card already pays.
For example, holders of the American Express Hilton Honors Card (no annual fee version) earn 3 Honors points per dollar spent on all non-bonused purchases. Add the Amazon promo bonus points and you’ll be earning 13 Hilton Honors points per dollar spent on your Amazon purchases.
If you haven’t already, you must load your Hilton Honors credit card to your Amazon wallet so that it can used as your payment method.
Once your Hilton Honors card is enrolled in the promotion, loaded to your Amazon wallet, and used as your payment method for your Amazon purchases, you can sit back and watch the Hilton points just roll on in.
The offer does have some fine print, specifically as it relates to eligible purchases.
Eligible purchases include:
- digital downloads
- Amazon Prime subscriptions
- Items sold by third party merchants through the Amazon Marketplace
Eligible purchases do NOT include:
- Fees or interest charges
- Purchases or reloading of prepaid cards
- Purchases of gift cards
- Person-to-person payments
- Purchases of any cash equivalents
- Purchases made at non-US versions of Amazon.com or websites affiliated with/linked to/from Amazon.com
- Retail locations owned by Amazon

It’s good to see promotions like these being offered.
The key to building airline miles and hotel points via credit card spend is taking advantage of bonused spend categories or promotions like this.
As we begin the holiday shopping season, I expect to see more opportunities from all credit card issuers to lure shoppers to their card(s) over their competitor’s.
And that’s good for all of us who maximize credit card usage to our fiscal advantage.
