Chase Freedom’s 4th Quarter Bonus Categories Begin Today

screen-shot-2016-09-15-at-10-49-42-amBeginning today, October 1, 2016, and running through the end of December, spend at department stores, drug stores and wholesale clubs will earn 5x points (or 5% cash back) on up to $1,500 in purchases made with your Chase Freedom credit card.

To receive the 5x points (5% cash back) per dollar spent, you will need to activate this quarter’s bonus on your card.  If you’ve not already done so, do it now at this link.

Considering this is the quarter in which some major holidays hit, maxing out the 5x earnings shouldn’t be too difficult.

Department stores can eat up a large chunk of that $1,500 considering late November and into December is a major shopping time for most.

And for your holiday parties, Thanksgiving included, wholesale clubs such as Sam’s Club, Costco and BJ’s can fill the table with a number of grocery goodies, all earning 5x points per dollar spent.

And if those two categories just won’t get it done, drug stores (and wholesale clubs) sell a wide variety of gift cards that can be used for gift giving or future purchases for yourself.

Planning a spring home improvement project? Purchase a Home Depot or Lowe’s gift card from the wholesale club or drug store and earn 5x.  Or purchase gasoline gift cards and earn 5x on filling up your car for the next few months.  The options to earn 5x are limited only by the gift cards sold at your local wholesale club and drug stores.

Rumor

Last year Chase offered 10x earning at Amazon.com for a limited period during the 2015 4th quarter when the Freedom card was used to pay.

There’s a rumor that Chase will bring that limited time, extra bonus earning at Amazon.com back again this year.

While 5x is a great earnings rate, 10x is an incredible opportunity, especially at a prolific retailer such as Amazon.com, to accumulate the incredibly valuable Chase Ultimate Rewards points.

We at Savings Beagle will keep a look out for any official announcements, and bring that news to you as soon as it’s released.
