Amazon Prime Now Offers Monthly Service Plans

Amazon Prime MonthlyAmazon is now offering their Prime service in a monthly service plan in addition to their original annual contract. In an attempt to compete head on with Netflix and Hulu Amazon has created Prime Video, a video streaming only option, at $8.99 a month. This news comes right on the heels of Netflix announcing it has raised their monthly service fee to $9.99.

Until recently, Amazon Prime only offered a full package of their video and audio streaming services, Books to Borrow, and free two day shipping at an annual cost of $99.95. For customers that would still like Amazon’s full Prime package, but don’t want to sign up for a year, can now choose this option for $10.99 per month.

Primes annual subscription will not be going away, they are simply creating a monthly option for those who prefer not to commit further. Users who pay per month would spend $108 a year for the video standalone package and $132 for the full package. Now that there is a low monthly price offering, Amazon’s free month-long trial is not quite as important, but can still help you decide if you want a free month first.
