Add 1,000 American Airlines or Alaska Airlines Miles to Your Account with This Shopping Portal “Button” Promo
|Both American Airlines and Alaska Airlines have added “buttons” to their shopping portals that make earning miles on your online shopping a little easier.
And as an incentive for you to add the button to your browser, both American and Alaska are offering 1,000 miles after you spend $25 via the installed shopping portal button.
You can view/install the browser buttons at the links below. Be aware, the buttons are only available for Google Chrome and Microsoft Edge browsers.

Below are the Terms for the Alaska Mileage Plan Button Promo. The American Airlines Button Promo terms are likely the same.
- During the “June 2021 Button Install Bonus” campaign, which runs from 6/7/2021 through 6/11/2021 at 11:59:59 pm ET (the “Bonus Period”), Members will earn a one-time bonus of 1,000 Mileage PlanTM bonus miles when they successfully install the Mileage PlanTM Shopping button (browser requirements detailed on button page) and use the button to spend $25 or more in qualifying purchases during the Bonus Period.
- To qualify, members must also keep the button installed for a minimum of 30 days after the end of the Bonus Period and must not have installed the button previously before the Bonus Period.
- The Bonus Miles are in addition to the standard Mileage PlanTM miles earned from shopping online through the Mileage PlanTM Shopping mall.
- “Qualifying purchases” do not include returns, cancellations, shipping and handling, taxes, gift card or other cash equivalent purchases, and certain products that are not eligible for bonus miles.
- Please see the Mileage PlanTM Shopping site for details on product eligibility and other restrictions.
- Please allow up to 10 weeks after the Bonus Period for bonus miles to post to your Mileage PlanTM account.
- Limit one bonus redemption per member.
If you have online shopping to do this week, might as well take advantage of this/these promos to add to your airline mileage balance(s).
It does appear you can only have one shopping portal button attached to a specific browser, though.
However, Google Chrome has a “profiles” option that will allow separate browser extensions – which is what these buttons are – to be added and used (or kept for the 30-day minimum requirement period) on Chrome. You can get info on how profiles works here.
Obviously, Chrome profiles would only be needed if you wanted to grab the 1,000 mile bonuses from both American and Alaska during the promo period.
Otherwise, just add one to your browser and meet the minimum requirements to grab the 1,000 bonus miles.
