Activate Your Chase Freedom’s Third Quarter Bonus Categories Today

The third quarter bonus categories for the Chase Freedom credit card can now be activated.

Freedom’s third quarter bonus categories include:

• Restaurants
• Wholesale clubs such as Costco and Sam’s Club

All purchases made in these categories earn 5% cash back – or my favorite, 5 Ultimate Rewards points per dollar spent – on up to $1,500 in combined purchases.

Bonus earnings on restaurant and wholesale club purchases will begin July 1, 2016, and run through September 30, 2016.

If you haven’t received your activation email yet, you can activate the third quarter categories here.

Obviously, you can activate your third quarter bonus categories at any point between now and September 14, 2016, to ensure you earn the bonus cash back/Ultimate Rewards points. I usually get it out of the way as soon as it becomes available to ensure I don’t forget.

Interestingly, Chase has decided to continue wholesale clubs as a bonus category into the third quarter. Which is a nice perk for those with wholesale club memberships – especially, if you spend a lot at those establishments.

Restaurants are a good bonus category, but unless most of your meals are eaten out, it’s difficult to max out the $1,500 quarterly spend.

With both restaurants and wholesale clubs earning the bonus, maxing out this quarter’s spend – and earning $75 cash back or 7,500 Ultimate Rewards points – will be a little easier.
