My Thoughts and More Details
Wyndham
As I mentioned with regard to the IHG points packages from last week, whether or not Monday’s Wyndham deal is any good depends on the hotel at which you plan to use it.
Here are a couple reservation examples I searched off the top of my head.
The Wyndham Garden Niagara Falls Fallsview for the night of July 9th – $176.90. You’d save $26.90 buying the deal. Not a fantastic savings, but savings just the same. I say that’s a toss up as to whether to buy the deal or not.
The Mills House Wyndham Grand Hotel (Charleston, SC) for the night of June 7th – $229. For this hotel, you’d save $79 by purchasing the deal. That’s a more substantive savings, and one I’d probably go for.
So, if you’re planning a trip where hotel stays will be involved, you might look at Wyndham’s website for your dates and locations and see if the Wyndham deal will save you money. (1,333 Available)
Universal Orlando
There are three Universal Orlando packages up for grabs.
- 3-Day Park to Park tickets for 4 people. Provides admission to both Universal Studios Florida and Universal’s Islands of Adventure parks. Price: $850 Estimated Savings: $150 (34 Available)
- Universal Orlando Resort Private VIP Experience. Bring up to 12 people and enjoy priority entry to rides and attractions, and more for one day. Price: $3,500 Estimated Savings: $3,119 (1 Available)
- Universal Orlando Resort Vacation Package. 3-nights’ stay, roundtrip airfare for 4 people, ground transportation to/from airport, 3-day admission to 2 theme parks and more. Price: $2,397 Estimate Savings: $1,028 (10 Available)
All of the packages will save some money, but only if you were already planning a similar trip. Spending money just because it’s a deal isn’t really saving.
Expedia +
This could be a good deal. The price is $650 and gives you a $1,000 Expedia + coupon to use for booking hotels via the Expedia + program. The important point with this deal is that reservations are limited to +VIP Access Hotels. Meaning you can’t book just any hotel on Expedia using the coupon.
+VIP Access hotels can be viewed/searched here.
If there’s a +VIP Access hotel at which you’d like to stay, you might want to jump on this deal. (50 Available)
Omni Hotels & Resorts
Omni Hotels are often considered a “step above” in the hotel industry. Of course, even within an upscale chain, some properties are going to be better than others.
Omni is offering four different hotel stay deals this week.
- 1 night at Exclusive Omni Hotels & Resorts for $235 (15 Available)
- 2 nights at Omni’s Premier Hotels & Resorts for $335 (38 Available)
- 2 night weekend escape at select Omni Hotels for $245 (41 Available)
- 2 night Omni Hotel getaway for $160 (30 Available)
As with all the hotel deals, whether any of these are a “real” deal depends on when and where you’re planning on using them. Here are two examples for the Premier deal (2 nights for $335).
Omni San Francisco Hotel – May 20-22 – $640.64. Obviously, the Daily Getaways deal would be a “real deal” for this particular stay. You’d be saving $305.64!
Omni Hilton Head Oceanfront Resort – May 13-15 – $666.20. Again, the Daily Getaways deal price would be a real money saver, saving over $330 for the two-night stay.
Check out the Omni Hotels site to see where you might like to go and the price for your dates of travel…maybe the Omni deals can save you big on your travels this year. And be sure to view each individual Omni Daily Getaway deal since each is restricted to certain Omni hotels.
Caesars Entertainment
There are six deals total at various Caesars properties.
- 2 nights at Planet Hollywood Las Vegas, dinner for two, tickets to a Caesars Entertainment show of your choice and more. $500 (10 Available)
- 2 nights at Harrah’s Resort Atlantic City, dinner for two, limo transfers between airport and hotel. $650 (5 Available)
- 3 nights in a suite at Caesars Palace Las Vegas, show tickets, $200 dining credit and more. $1,400 (10 Available)
- 2 nights at Nobu Hotel, in-room tea service, dinner for 2 at Nobu Resaurant and more. $590 (5 Available)
- 2 nights Paris Las Vegas, dinner for two and more. $350 (5 Available)
- 2 nights Rio Las Vegas Golf Weekend, premium studio suite, $100 dining credit, 1 round of golf for 2 at Rio Secco Golf Club and more. $520 (5 Available)
Again, it’s best to check for yourself whether any of these are really deals. All of the properties can be found here. They all will provide some level of value, but whether you want to stay at a certain property, or will actually use the amenities that are part of a specific package will determine its true value.
Personal Commentary: I’ve heard very mixed reviews (leaning toward the negative) of the Nobu Hotel so consider that if you’re looking for a Vegas trip. Other hotels may be better options to enjoy the magic that is Las Vegas.
Daily Getaways Ins and Outs
As I reminded in the first post on the Daily Getaways, all deals go on sale at 1:00 pm ET the day they are listed.
I’ve noted the quantities available next to each deal – they’re also listed on an individual deal’s page on the Daily Getaways calendar. For popular deals, they will go quickly, so be ready to click the “Buy Now” button right at 1:00 pm.
Actually, if there is any deal in which you’re interested, just to be safe I’d be ready to buy right at 1:00 pm when the deal opens.
As with anything in life, the details matter, so for deals you’re interested in, be sure to look at the fine print…it’s listed on each individual deal at the Daily Getaways site.
So, scope out the deals that interest you for this week, set your cell phone alarm for 12:50 pm the day of the deal and get ready to buy!
I’ll see you next weekend with my rundown of Week 3 deals.
Until then, here’s hoping you get the travel deal(s) of your choice!
