- This deal is available with the Walmart Grocery Online Service only.
- One discount code per order.
- Does not apply to alcohol purchases.
- The Promo Code appears to be able to be used for new and returning Walmart Grocery customers.
There are a few reports that some are being able to use the $20 off Promo Code on orders of only $30. If so, this is likely a glitch soon to be removed.
Even for the $50 or more purchase requirement, I’d recommend using the Promo Code as soon as possible just in case Walmart decides to pull the promotion.
Walmart Grocery Online Service
If you’re not familiar with Walmart’s Grocery Online Service, it’s a convenient way to order your grocery items online and then pick them up at a designated time without having to leave your car.
You can order via the website or Walmart Grocery App, select the day/time you want to pick up your order (usually it’s an hour range of time) and pay online when you submit your order.
Of course, these days, available days/times can be hard to find…or at least days/times within the next few days.
On pickup day, around your designated pickup time, you’ll receive an email/text/app notification that your order is ready, at which point you can head to the Walmart location you selected for pickup.
Let the Walmart Grocery team know you’re on your way via the Walmart Grocery App on your smartphone so that final prep can begin.
Once at the store, find a parking spot in the designated Walmart Grocery pickup area, and submit your parking spot letter or number, along with type/color of vehicle via the app to let the staff know you’ve arrived.
Then, wait for your groceries to be brought out to your car.
The Walmart staff will load your purchases into your vehicle – without any personal contact per Covid-19 practices – and off you go.
The first time I tried the service, pre-coronavirus, I offered a tip to the staff who brought the groceries out and loaded them, but was told they do not accept tips, it’s part of the Walmart Grocery Online/Pickup service. Nice.
Save Even More
Many credit cards are now offering bonus points/cash back for grocery store purchases as a result of Covid-19.
The Walmart Grocery Online service, unfortunately, doesn’t always code as “grocery” for credit card purposes, meaning it might not earn the bonus points/cash back.
Chase, in the past, has been spotty with regard to the Walmart Grocery Online service coding as a “grocery” purchase.
I believe American Express has been a little better.
And considering there’s currently an Amex Offer providing 5% off grocery purchases, it’s worth a try.
No matter, if one of your credit cards is offering a grocery bonus, give it a try and see what happens.
