Is PetChatz for You?

Can’t say this product is necessarily a “deal,” but we saw it part of this year’s Consumer Electronics Show and thought it interesting enough to pass along.

Any pet parent wonders what’s going on with his/her pets while they’re away.  That’s just normal.  And up to now, you could always get a webcam to watch your furry friend, but, the technology now appears to have taken that next step.

PetChatz offers an HD camera device that allows for two-way video chat and an app-controlled treat dispenser!

Imagine you’re at work and you want to see and talk with Scruffy.  Just fire up the app on your smartphone and make the “call.”  A special ringtone on the WiFi connected PetChatz device tells Scruffy you’re checking in.  PetChatz’ color screen allows Scruffy to not only hear you, but see you as well…and vice versa.

And, if that weren’t enough, Scruffy can call you, too.

PetChatz has an optional PawCall accessory which lets Scruffy initiate the call.  When the PawCall’s button is pressed, you’ll get a notice on your smartphone or computer alerting you that Scruffy’s ready for some interaction.

While not inexpensive, some pet parents might find this a worthwhile expenditure that will give both parent and pet the comfort of personal (video) interaction during long periods of time apart.
