Verizon Wireless’ Latest “Netflix on Us” Promo is Available Through December 28th – Subscribers From Last November/December Should be Able to Resubscribe

Last year around this time we wrote how Verizon Wireless and 5G Home customers could get 12 months of the Netflix Premium plan (Ultra HD (4K)/4 screens at once) for only $25 with Verizon’s Netflix on Us promotion.

Since that deal, there have been a few other “Netflix on Us” deals that have been good, but not anywhere close to as lucrative.

Now, Verizon is back with another “Netflix on Us” promo that should allow subscribers from last November/December to resubscribe if the latest deal is right for them.

Keep in mind, these “Netflix on Us” deals cannot be stacked. If you’re currently in a Verizon +Play subscription promo with Netflix, you have to cancel and wait for that promo to end before you can subscribe again.

November/December 2023 Verizon/Netflix Promotion

First, you must be a Verizon postpaid mobile (personal, not business), 5G Home, Fios and LTE Home customer.

Second, to activate this deal, you must be using the Account Manager’s account…which is usually the individual who set up the account. Additional lines – even though they may have their own login – are not Account Managers unless added as such by the true Account Manager.

The next step is where you decide how much to “pay” for your free 12 months of Netflix.

The promotion requires a subscription to one of Verizon’s +play options. The options include:

  • Paramount+ with SHOWTIME Annual Plan – $119.99
  • Xbox Game Pass Ultimate – $186.89 per year
  • A seasonal subscription of NBA League Pass Premium – $149.99 for the season

If there’s a plan you want to subscribe to, then that solves that. Select it, pay the subscription fee and you’ll get 12 months of Netflix free.

I Just Want Free Netflix Premium

If, however, you’re only after the free 12 months of Netflix, here’s how to play it.

First, you need to consider costs. And what you would have paid, and what you can pay.

If you were to subscribe to Netflix’s Premium plan you’d pay $275.88 (plus tax) for 12 months of service. Even if you chose the Standard plan at $15.49/month, you’d pay $185.88 (plus tax) for the year. And if you went really cheap with the Basic plan with ads, you’d pay $83.88 annually.

So, what will get you the best bang for your buck?

Subscribing to the Paramount+ with Showtime option for $119.99. It’s a one-time charge that gives you 12 months of access to the streaming platform Paramount+ with Showtime and 12 months of Netflix’s Premium plan.

This deal is not even close to last year’s NFL+ option that gave you 12 months of Netflix Premium for about $25. But, then again, everything costs more today than it did last year.

So, whether this is a deal you want to take advantage of depends on how much you value Paramount+ with Showtime.

Of course, as I mentioned above, if you were going to subscribe to one of these 3 services anyway, this is a great deal.

If you’re only subscribing to get a year of Netflix “free,” well you need to do a cost/benefit analysis for your specific situation.

You can view the Verizon article/press release regarding this promotion at this link. And read the associated fine print at the bottom at #3.

How to Get This Deal

The promo is now available after a few day’s delay. The info below should help to see/sign up for the promotion.

You can view the Verizon +play/Netflix promotion page at this link after you’ve signed in to your Verizon account.

It’s best to sign in online – not via the Verizon app.

If the link above does not direct you to the promotion’s page, select the search icon in the upper right of the Verizon homepage.

  • Search “+play”
  • Select the “Shop” option
  • Select the “Shop Netflix Special Offer” button
  • Choose your preferred subscription by clicking the “Get it now” button
  • Follow the prompts which include, contact information, payment information and terms and conditions.

You cannot link a currently-subscribed-to-option as your primary service (the one you’re paying for to get the free 12 months of Netflix). You’ll need to be a new subscriber.

You can, however, be a current Netflix subscriber and still get the 12-month free deal.

After you’ve set up your primary service account (Paramount+ with Showtime, Xbox Gamepass Ultimate or NBA League Pass Premium), you’ll be directed to set up your Netflix account.

It’s at this point current Netflix subscribers will be asked to create a new account or login to an existing account.

Once logged in to all accounts, you’ll be notified that your Netflix account has been moved to Verizon’s +play platform for billing purposes and that you have Netflix Premium for the next 12 months at no charge. It should show an exact end date.

After the free 12 months end, you’ll be charged the current monthly rate (plus tax) until you cancel – or presumably change your plan.

Some may have Netflix gift cards attached to Netflix accounts for payment. It appears that a current Netflix credit will be held until the free 12 months end, at which point the credit balance will be charged for ongoing monthly fees.

The free 12 months of Netflix begins when the qualifying subscription service account is activated on the service provider’s website or app. You won’t be able to wait to begin the free 12 months of Netflix service.

If you have questions about any aspects of this promotion, you can view the FAQs page at this link.

Resubscribing

If you took advantage of last year’s “Netflix on Us” promo, there has been some question about whether or not you can take advantage of this promotion.

The promo’s terms language states…”One (1) Netflix Premium offer per eligible Verizon account.” Which makes some think it’s one Netflix offer, period…for the life of your Verizon account.

However, the language under the “Who is eligible to get Neflix on us for one year?” FAQ states, “If you already have an active annual subscription or a subscription outside of +play, you can get this offer. However, you won’t be able to activate the annual subscription until you cancel the original annual subscription and wait until the end of that billing cycle.”

So, those who took advantage of last November/December’s “Netflix on Us” deal should be able to resubscribe after canceling their current Netflix subscription in the +play section of Verizon and waiting for the end of its billing cycle (end-date should show in the “manage subscriptions” section of +play).

Cancel

Whether it’s last year’s deal, or this current promotion, you will need to cancel both the Netflix subscription and the other subscription option you choose to avoid getting charged for both services once the 12 months end.

I was able to cancel the Netflix +play subscription about six months ago and maintain the free Netflix access until the end of the promotion period.

Hopefully, it will work the same this time around.

What do you think, is this deal something you’ll take advantage of?
