Unfortunately, Gasoline Price Are Going to Increase Even More in the Coming Days – Here’s How to Offset Those Jumps

Gasoline prices have risen significantly over the past months, and, unfortunately, with Russia’s invasion of Ukraine, U.S. consumers will be seeing an additional increase in the coming days and weeks.

Savings Beagle regularly publishes options for using your credit cards to save money.

And here are a few deals, that while limited, will save something the next time you fill up.

Gasoline Credit Card Offers

Citi Merchant Offers

Citi’s Merchant Offers currently have three different Offers available that could save the next time you stop for gas.

Check your Citi credit card account(s) to see if any of the Offers below are available to you. If so, add them to your card, and use that card to pay…you’ll automatically save the amount specified on the Offer via a statement credit.

Unfortunately, most of these gasoline Offers now require you to make the purchase via the gasoline provider’s app. Which, for some, may make these Offers useless. Be sure and check if a specific Offer is app-only prior to using.

Expiration dates shown on the images below may not be accurate for your available Offers.

Exxon Mobile

Get $5 back as a statement credit when you use the Citi card on which this Offer’s been loaded to purchase through the app $20 or more of fuel.

Exxon Mobile Rewards+ App – Android iOS

BP

Get $10 back when you purchase $20 or more via the BPme app at BP and Amoco gas stations.

BPme App – Android iOS

Pilot Flying J

Earn 3.5% back on a purchase of $25 or more at U.S. Pilot or Flying J branded locations.

It looks as though this Offer is good on pumped gasoline as well as in-store purchases when $25 minimum is hit.

You do not need an app to take advantage of this Citi Merchant Offer.

American Express Amex offers

Currently, there is only one Amex Offer available for gasoline purchases, and it’s the same BP Offer that’s available on Citi cards.

For those unfamiliar, the process is the same for Amex Offers, add the Offer to your American Express card, use that card to make the purchase and you’ll receive a statement credit in the amount associated with the Offer.

BP

Get a one-time statement credit of $10 when using your enrolled American Express card to spend a minimum of $20 in one or more purchases of fuel at BP or Amoco using the BPme mobile app.

BPme App – Android iOS

This Amex Offer is limited in its use, but if you regularly fill up at BP or Amoco, and have a Citi card, you can take advantage of both.

And, gasoline Offers seem to regularly be available, so even though some may expire soon, they may return fairly quickly.

Just keep checking your credit card Offers pages to see what’s been added.

And while Chase doesn’t currently have any gasoline-related Offers of which I’m aware, they have in the past, so be sure to check your Chase Offers on a regular basis, too.

Other Gasoline Saving Options

The Chase Freedom lineup of credit cards is offering new applicants 5% cash back on gas station purchases up to $6,000 for the first year you hold the card.

The Freedom Unlimited and Flex cards are good all-around money-savers, offering 3% back on dining purchases and at drugstores in addition to the 5% back at gas stations the first year.

And the Freedom Flex card offers rotating 5% cash back categories each quarter. The current quarter, through March 31, 2022, is providing 5% cash back at grocery stores and on eBay purchases.

And the Freedom Unlimited provides 1.5% cash back on all purchases.

You can get more info on the Freedom Cards and apply at our referral link below. If you apply and are approved, we’ll receive a points bonus for the referral. Thank you if you use our link.

An additional way to save on gasoline purchases is to enroll in a company’s loyalty program. Most gasoline loyalty programs provide a $0.05 per gallon discount when you use a linked credit card, input your loyalty number or use the company’s app to purchase. Just Google your preferred gasoline provider to see what its loyalty program is offering.

And, purchasing your gas at a grocery store that has a loyalty program can reduce costs occasionally when redeeming accrued rewards.

These are just a few of the ways to save on your gasoline costs as prices continue to rise. Do you have any other suggestions that might help readers?
