It’s Time for the Daily Getaways

In mid-February, the U.S. Travel Association announced that the annual Daily Getaways promotion would be back beginning April 4.

With April 4th just around the corner, the association is teasing the upcoming week’s deals to whet everyone’s appetite for what’s to come.

A quick rundown of the deals for April 4 – 8 include:

Monday

2 and 3 night stays at lower-end Choice Hotels (Comfort Inn, Comfort Suites, Sleep Inn and Cambria Suites) starting at $90

Tuesday

Single-day passes to visit Busch Gardens ($45 per person) and Sea World ($50 per person)

Wednesday

A variety of IHG Rewards Club points packages ranging from 15,000 points for $90 up to 100,000 points for $565.

Thursday

10,000 Best Western Rewards Points for $55

Friday

It’s Las Vegas Friday! A number of Las Vegas hotel package deals are listed for purchase. All of the deals are offering a significant discount from their estimated value.

Personally, I’m not overly excited about the upcoming week’s offers.

If I was in the market for a trip to Vegas, a couple of those deals might be appealing.

And if I was interested in some IHG points to top off my account for a particular stay, one of those points’ packages might be something I’d consider.

If you were to buy a package solely for the free nights it could get you, you definitely would want to look at your desired location/dates to check if purchasing the points would be a deal or not.

An example: A quick check for reservations at the Intercontinental in Chicago and New Orleans for late June/early July show that you could get 2 free nights for the 100,000 points, but the room rate for the nights checked at both hotels would be less than the $565 you’d pay for the 100,000 points with this deal.

So, again, you need to consider your specific travel plans to see if these points’ deals are really deals for you.

The Getaways for April 11 – 15 have also been posted, and might be attractive to those planning an Orlando vacation this summer, fans of Omni Hotels & Resorts and especially Caesars (Las Vegas and Atlantic City) loyalists.

I’ll write more on the second week’s deals this weekend.

As a reminder, deals go on sale at 1:00 pm ET the day they are listed.

Quantities are listed on the page of individual deals, and in many cases are extremely limited.

For really popular deals, if you’re not ready to click the “Buy Now” button right at 1:00 pm, forget about getting the deal. And even then, there’s no guarantee you’ll be one of the lucky few whose click made it to the front of the line.

So, scope out deals that may be of interest, mark your calendar and start exercising your clicking finger…this year’s Daily Getaways are about to go on sale!

Are you planning on buying a Getaway deal this year?
