The U.S. Travel Association’s Daily Getaways Travel Deals Begin This Monday, July 18, 2022 – Here’s the First Week’s Lineup

The U.S. Travel Association has brought back its Daily Getaways travel deals for 2022.

This year it looks like there will be two weeks – 10 total days – of deals from which to pick.

As with last year’s Daily Getaways, the number of deals and selection is limited as compared to pre-Covid times. Which, I guess, is somewhat expected considering the major hit the travel industry took as a result of lockdowns, etc.

And now the subsequent extreme demand for travel likely playing a large part in the limited availability of deals.

But, there are still valuable deals to be had, for travelers in certain circumstances.

Many of the deals involve hotel loyalty points for purchase. And, as has always been the case with points purchases, if you don’t have a specific award redemption you’re buying for, it’s probably best to pass on making a speculative purchase of points.

Except in the case of Hyatt points, that is.

With that in mind, here’s the first week of Daily Getaways travel deals. Scan what’s available and work up your plan of action for the coming week.

Daily Getaways First Week Deals

Daily Getaways Details

Monday

Five IHG One Rewards points packages will start off this year’s Daily Getaways deals on Monday.

  • 2,500 IHG One Rewards Points for $12 (250 packages available)
  • 5,000 IHG One Rewards Points for $25 (700 packages available)
  • 25,000 IHG One Rewards Points for $125 (601 packages available)
  • 50,000 IHG One Rewards Points for $250 (549 packages available)
  • 100,000 IHG One Rewards Points for $500 (534 packages available)

No more than five (5) packages of points purchased through this offer are allowed per loyalty number. A maximum of (16) packages of points is allowed per loyalty number across all IHG offers.

Since topping off to meet a specific award redemption is the best route with hotel points, pick the package that will benefit your situation the most and buy that one first. Then, if you really want more, go for your next package choice.

Tuesday

Four Accor hotels packages are up for grabs on Tuesday.

Each deal is for a specific location with varying stay benefits.

Here are each with a quick overview.

  • Sofitel New York – one (1) night stay for two (2) in a Standard Room including breakfast. Taxes, gratuities and resort fees are included. Priced at $1,400. 4 available.
  • Fairmont Olympic Hotel, Seattle – one (1) night stay for two (2) in an Executive Suite including breakfast. Taxes, gratuities and resort fees are included. Priced at $1,000. 5 available.
  • Fairmont Century Plaza, Los Angeles – one (1) night stay for two (2) in a Suite including breakfast. Taxes, gratuities and resort fees are included. Priced at $1,700. 3 available.
  • Sofitel Chicago Magnificent Mile – one (1) night stay for two (2) in a Junior Suite including breakfast. Taxes, gratuities and resort fees are included. Priced at $1,000. 5 available.

You are only able to purchase 1 stay per hotel.

While I’m sure each of these hotels will provide a spectacular experience. And each deal will provide some discounted value. I’m not sure I’m seeing the major deals that are typical of the Daily Getaways. Likely a sign of the extremely tight travel market right now.

But if you see a hotel at which you really want to stay and the price provides you a deal, then get ready to try your luck on Tuesday, July 19th.

Wednesday

Three Hilton Honors points packages are up for grabs on Wednesday.

  • 30,000 Hilton Honors Points for $150 (450 packages available)
  • 100,000 Hilton Honors Points for $500 (225 packages available)
  • 250,000 Hilton Honors Points for $1,250 (176 packages available)

Only three (3) sets of Points may be purchased of the 30,000 point packages, and only one (1) set of Points for the 100,000 and 250,000 point packages may be purchased. Up to five (5) sets of Points may be purchased in total per Hilton Honors member for all Hilton Honors offers in this promotion.

Again, if you have a specific redemption in mind, go for the amount of points that will get your that free stay. Buying just to have Hilton points in your account, just in case, is probably not the best route to go.

Still, these will likely be popular, so get ready to buy early if you’re interested.

Thursday

This is an easy day – there’s only one Wyndham Rewards Points package available.

  • 15,000 Wyndham Rewards Points for $175 (766 packages available)

No more than 2 sets of points per Wyndham Rewards member can be purchased.

This is pretty straight forward. Only buy if the deal’s right for your travel plans.

Friday

And one more day of a single points package deal, this one being Best Western Rewards Points.

  • 10,000 Best Western Rewards Points for $55 (835 packages available)

No more than five (5) sets of points purchased through this offer are allowed per loyalty number.

Enough said.

Quick Thoughts

I’ve pretty much given my thoughts on these points packages under the individual deals. But, to reiterate…

In general, buying points speculatively is a bad idea.

If you have an upcoming trip for which you need a specific number of points to get the award stay you want, buying points is a great way to do so.

But if you don’t have a specific travel goal on the horizon, then it’s probably best to pass.

And the Accor hotel stays are a little rich for my liking…but maybe not for you.

All that said, head to the Daily Getaways site, check pricing on individual deals and plan out your purchase strategy if you can get value out of these deals.

Daily Getaways Ins and Outs

All Daily Getaways deals go on sale at 1:00 pm ET the day they are listed.

Deal quantities are listed on an individual deal’s page on the Daily Getaways calendar. For popular deals, they will go quickly, so be ready to click the “Buy Now” button right at 1:00 pm.

Actually, if there is any deal in which you’re interested, just to be safe I’d be ready to buy right at 1:00 pm when the deal opens.

As with anything in life, the details matter, so for deals you’re interested in, be sure to look at the fine print…it’s listed on each individual deal at the Daily Getaways site.

That said, scope out the deals that interest you for this week, set your cell phone alarm for 12:50 pm the day of the deal and get ready to buy!

Here’s hoping you’re able to grab a deal this year. If so, enjoy your travels.

And if not, there are plenty of ways to make your travel dreams come true without breaking the bank. Check out our Miles and Points series to get started making your travel dreams come true.
