We’re in unprecedented times right now. More and more Americans are stuck at home, with little opportunity to go out even if they wanted to.

For those who aren’t familiar, the Chase Freedom credit card offers bonus categories each quarter. Purchases made in these categories earn 5% cash back (or 5 Ultimate Rewards points per dollar spent) on up to $1,500. If you spend the full $1,500 in bonus categories for a specific quarter, you’ll “earn” $75 cash back.
During these difficult financial times, any extra money is good.
The April – June Freedom Bonus Categories
When the Freedom’s bonus categories were initially announced two weeks ago, the bonus categories for 2020 Q2 were grocery stores and fitness clubs and gym memberships.
Well, with most fitness clubs and gyms closed due to coronavirus, I guess Chase decided to add a more useful category to this quarter’s offerings.
Now included in Q2’s bonus categories are select streaming services. So any purchases made at the following streaming services will earn 5% cash back.

A perfect category addition for those of us holed up at home with more time than we like on our hands.

As the second quarter begins today, April 1, 2020, all purchases at grocery stores, at streaming services listed above and gyms/fitness clubs will earn the 5% cash back on up to $1,500 in purchases.
The second quarter ends June 30, 2020.
One important point with regard to grocery stores – Target and Walmart are excluded from earning the 5% cash back.

It’s great that grocery stores are one of the Freedom’s bonus categories this quarter. Most of us will be able to take advantage of this category alone to max out the full $1,500 category spending limit.
