SiriusXM satellite radio is has brought back the 12-month upgraded plan (Platinum) and a free Echo Dot for $60 deal as a summer 2022 promo.

For only $60 for the first year (plus taxes and fees of around $10 or so) – you’ll get access to the Platinum plan and a free Amazon Echo Dot on which SiriusXM can be streamed.

New Subscribers Only

This free Echo Dot – and at times the upgraded plan option – subscription deal has been around, off and on, for a few years now.

While it says “new subscribers only” in the terms, what constitutes a new subscriber is not completely clear. So, if you’ve taken advantage of this, or any SiriusXM subscription, in the past, can you get it again – if you’ve canceled the service, of course?

That’s a question we don’t have an answer to. But, it’s definitely worth a try. Worst case, you either won’t be able to complete the sign-up, or you won’t get the free Echo Dot (more likely) if you’ve gotten one previously.

Just keep in mind, if you’re currently a SiriusXM subscriber, it’s extremely unlikely you’ll be able to get this deal. An inactive radio/account will be needed.

The Echo Dot is sold by Amazon, which is where you’ll need to redeem the coupon code you’ll receive as part of this promotion. The code will provide the Echo Dot free of charge.

The current price for an Echo Dot (4th Generation) on Amazon is $39.99. Get your free Echo Dot and sell it for $25-$30 and you could cover about half of your 12-month SiriusXM subscription.

SiriusXM and the Credit Card

As with most SiriusXM subscription deals, a credit card is required as a payment method.

This is SiriusXM’s way of ensuring you’ll pay, and continue to pay at the higher rate once the deal ends.

The terms for this promo state:

Your Music & Entertainment subscription will renew every month thereafter and you will be charged according to your chosen payment method at then-current rates (currently $17.99/mo).

If you don’t want to continue the subscription, this just means you must call to cancel.

Cancel

You can cancel at any time. However, anyone who has dealt with SiriusXM knows this can be a time-consuming affair.

Just be aware you’ll likely have to say “no, thanks, please cancel my subscription,” a number of times before it’ll be done.

If you enjoy the service, you’ll likely get a decent offer to continue your subscription during this call to cancel after your first couple “no thanks.”

Persistence is the key with SiriusXM’s calls to either cancel or get a better deal.

And there are always better deals. Don’t ever pay full price!
