Shell’s Fuel Rewards Program is Bringing Back Discounts for 2023 – Members Can Save $0.23 per Gallon on January 20, 2023 – Activate the Savings By January 17th
Well, I didn’t expect Shell’s Fuel Rewards program to continue its monthly one-day discount promotion into 2023, but here it is. Whether this continues each month like we saw in 2022, is the question.
But, for now, you can save $0.23 per gallon on a fill up January 20, 2023.
As with most of last year’s promotions, you will need to activate the savings to get the benefit.
Activation must take place by the end of January 17th.
And, also like last year’s deals, you likely will have to activate this promotion via the Activate Offer button on the promo’s email to you. I still have not heard of other ways to activate these Shell discount offers. Please comment if you have.
So, check your email account for the Fuel Rewards email…mine was sent January 13…titled “Celebrate 2023! On the 20th, Save 23 cents/GAL!” And, the email language states to “Activate this offer below by the end of January 17th and fill up on January 20th…”
The Friday, January 20th fill up (at least 5 gallons) will trigger the promotion’s $0.23 per gallon savings on that purchase.
Here are the full terms, I’ve highlighted what I believe are the most important points:
- Offer available exclusively to the recipient of this email.
- To qualify for this offer you must 1) be a Fuel Rewards® member, 2) activate your offer through the Activate Offer button in this email between 1/13/2023 and 1/17/2023, and 3) fill up one (1) time with a minimum of at least five (5) gallons of fuel at a participating Shell station (a “Qualifying Purchase”) on 1/20/2023(the “Offer Period”).
- The 23¢/gal reward can only be redeemed once during the Offer Period.
- Void where prohibited by law; only available in the U.S. Fuel Rewards® savings are limited to 20 gallons of fuel per purchase, per vehicle or fraud limits placed by Shell and/or limits placed on your payment card by your financial institution, each of which may be lower. Dispenser may require a price of up to 10.9¢ per gallon.
- For purchases of $75 or more, please go inside to pay.
- Unbranded diesel and alternative fuels may not be eligible.
- It may not be possible to combine multiple discounts and/or rewards in a single transaction.
- The Fuel Rewards® program is owned and operated by Excentus Corporation.
- Offer may be modified or discontinued at any time without notice.

And, of course, use a Fuel Rewards account linked credit card or sign in at the pump prior to filling up to ensure you get the discount.

If you’re not familiar with the program, Fuel Rewards provides discounts on gasoline purchases at participating Shell gas stations.
Gold Status with Fuel Rewards gives members 5 cents off per gallon of gas up to 20 gallons per fill up, while Silver Status provides a 3 cent per gallon savings.
Once you’ve signed up for the Fuel Rewards program, simply swipe your Fuel Rewards card, your Single Swipe enabled payment card (credit card) or enter your Alt Id (usually it’s the phone number you provide when setting up the account) at the pump and your per gallon savings will automatically appear.
Additional per gallon savings can be had when you link to dining, shopping or other programs.

Wrap Up
It’s somewhat of a surprise that Shell is continuing its Fuel Rewards savings promotion into 2023.
But, for those who enjoyed “playing the gasoline savings game” in 2022, you have at least one more opportunity to save this new year.
We’ll see come February whether the Fuel Rewards program will continue these deals throughout 2023.
Just remember, the savings are for Fuel Rewards members only, and you must activate the promotion on your account prior to end-of-day, Tuesday, January 17, 2023.
Then, make your fuel purchase on Friday, January 20, 2023, to trigger the 23-cent per gallon discount.
And, of course, be sure to log in to your account – or use a linked credit card to pay – to ensure you get the discount.
