Save on Your Upcoming Amazon Purchases with These Chase, American Express, Citi and Discover Credit Card Deals

Amazon’s Prime Day is approaching – July 11th and 12th – and as we typically see, new credit card deals make an appearance, too.

Some of the Prime Day-related credit card deals can save you up to 50%! Now that’s a good deal.

Others are not quite as good, but may still provide some savings.

All depend, however, on your specific Amazon account being targeted for a specific credit card deal.

If you’re familiar with how these Amazon/credit card deals work, here are the latest deals/links to check on your Amazon account.

If you need a bit more info on how this works, see below.

Chase

Save up to 50% – max discount of $60

American Express

Save up to 40% – max discount of $60

The American Express link above may show a 50% off or 15% off offer as well. Be aware, the 15% off deal requires the use of 714 Amex Membership Rewards points to trigger the discount…this is not a good deal nor use of Membership Rewards points.

Citi

$15 off a purchase of $15.01 or more with Promo Code: CITICARD15

The Citi deal is not necessarily targeted. Rather, as long as you add a new Citi credit card to your Amazon wallet, enter the promo code, and use that Citi card to pay, you should see the $15 discount.

Discover

Save 30% – max discount of $30

$10 off a purchase of $75 or more

Add a Discover card to your Amazon Wallet and save $20 off eligible purchases of $20.01 or more with Code: 23DISCOVERPD.

How These Deals Work

These requirements apply no matter the credit card deal you’re using.

  1. The credit card must be added to your Amazon Wallet (as a payment option)
  2. The credit card must be enrolled in its “Shop with Points” program
  3. Then click the specific credit card deal links above to check availability to you
  4. All deals only apply to products “sold and shipped by Amazon.com” unless otherwise noted. Look for that language on a product’s page near the shipping dates or “Add to Cart” / “Buy Now” buttons.
  5. When paying, use at least 1 reward point to trigger the deal’s discount.  Typically, the less points used the better.
  6. Discount will be reflected at checkout.

The links above seem to be specific to this year’s Prime Day, with most of them expiring the last day – or soon after – of the Prime Day event (July 12th).

Also, many of the deals above have a specific number of redemptions connected to them. Once that number of redemptions has been hit, the promotion is over.

So it might be beneficial to use the savings deals sooner, rather than later, just in case a lot of people jump on them around the Prime Day event.

As an example, here are the full terms for the American Express deal:

  • This is a limited time offer. The promotion will end on the earlier of (a) 5:00pm PT on 7/13/2023 or (b) the time at which 31,024 customers have redeemed the offer. The promotion button will expire concurrently.
  • Amazon.com reserves the right to cancel or modify this offer at any time.
  • Offer is available by invitation only, is non-transferable, is not redeemable for cash, and may not be resold.
  • Offer applies only to products where Membership Rewards points are used for at least a portion of the product and the promotion is applied at checkout.
  • This offer only applies to eligible products. Eligible products means products sold and shipped by Amazon.com. Products sold by third-party sellers or other Amazon entities are not eligible, even if they are fulfilled by Amazon.com or Prime eligible. Digital content products are also not eligible.
  • Shipping charges may apply to eligible products and discounted promotional items.
  • Maximum benefit you may receive from this offer is $60 per eligible Membership Rewards-enrolled Card or per one Amazon account.
  • Offer may not be combined with other offers.
  • Offer discount will be allocated proportionally among all promotional items in your original order. If any of the items in your original order are subsequently returned, your refund will equal the original price of the product, less the proportional amount of the discount. The total discount on the unreturned amount of your original order will then be less than the maximum discount availed.
  • If you used points for all or part of your order and any of the products related to your original order are returned, subject to Amazon’s return policy, you will receive a refund of the amount charged to your Card. If you would like Membership Rewards® points returned to your account instead of a refund to your Card, you must contact American Express.
  • If a refund cannot be processed by American Express for reasons including but not limited to closure of your Card Account, Amazon will issue an Amazon Gift Card to you for an amount equal to the value of the Membership Rewards points used towards your product.
  • Promotional codes (including those placed directly in accounts) may not be redeemed for Amazon Gift Cards.
  • This promotion is available only to Amazon.com customers with an eligible Membership Rewards-enrolled Card issued in United States. Promotional credit is applied before taxes and fees.
  • If you violate any of these terms, the offer will be invalid.
  • Terms and Conditions for the Membership Rewards program apply. Visit membershiprewards.com/terms for more information. Participating partners and available rewards are subject to change without notice.
  • The value of Membership Rewards points varies according to how you choose to use them. To learn more, go to www.membershiprewards.com/pointsinfo. See full Shop with Points Terms and Conditions for details on www.amazon.com/amexmr.

And, be sure to click the “Activate Promotion” button on any deal that has one to ensure you have it available on your Amazon account.

What to Buy

Well, you can buy anything you want…as long as it’s “shipped and sold by Amazon,” to get the savings.

But, if you have been targeted for one of these credit card savings deals and don’t really have anything you want to buy that’s Shipped and Sold by Amazon, then here’s a suggestion.

Third-party/specialty gift cards.

In the past, I’d take advantage of these types of credit card deals by purchasing Netflix gift cards. I’d buy a $50 card, use the associated discount and get $50 worth of Netflix service for $30, or whatever the discounted amount would be.

And that can be done with any third-party gift card sold on Amazon.

A few examples include:

  • DoorDash
  • Roblox
  • Starbucks
  • Apple
  • Ulta
  • Best Buy
  • And many more

It does not apply to Amazon gift cards, though.

Prime Day 2023 Promotion

To be blunt, recent Prime Day promotions have been less than stellar when it comes to really good product deals.

But what has been nice are the credit card deals that are typically offered around Prime Day to boost interest and purchases.

If you’re lucky enough to have been targeted for one, or more, of these credit card deals, it’s not too hard to get some value out of them, whether it’s on products you want, or gift cards to use on future purchases.
