Now, Rakuten users can choose whether they earn cash back or Membership Rewards points when shopping via the Rakuten site.

If you don’t yet have a Rakuten account, now you can earn 3,000 Membership Rewards points instead of the typical $10 from a new cash back account.

Once your account is set up, make $25 worth of qualifying purchases within the first 90 days from account opening and you’ll earn the 3,000 MR points.
And even though your account was set up to earn Membership Rewards points, you’ll be able to switch to cash back if that becomes your earning preference.
To change your earning structure, log in to your Rakuten account, go to “My Account” and select the “Account Settings” tab.
