Marriott and Uber Partner to Allow Marriott Bonvoy Points Earning on Certain Uber Purchases

Marriott and Uber have partnered, and this new relationship will allow Marriott Bonvoy members to earn Marriott points on certain Uber purchases.

And, for a limited time, Marriott Bonvoy members can earn 2,000 bonus points by linking their Marriott and Uber accounts and completing a qualifying Uber Eats order or Uber ride.

The Marriott and Uber Partnership

The Marriott and Uber partnership is a way to earn Marriott points for certain Uber purchases.

Specifically, Uber Premium rides (Uber XL, Uber Black, Uber SUV and Uber Comfort) will earn 3 Marriott points per dollar.

When staying at a Marriott portfolio property, Uber Eats orders will earn 6 Marriott points per dollar. There’s a $25 minimum order amount, not including taxes and fees.

And you can earn 2 Marriott points per dollar on all other Uber Eats orders. The same $25 minimum order amount applies to these Uber Eats orders as well.

These points earning opportunities are only valid in the U.S.

This is a nice partnership and points earning opportunity, but nothing spectacular due to is restrictions. At least in my opinion.

But, if you have a Marriott Bonvoy account and an Uber account, might as well take a minute or two to link your accounts and earn points whenever you might meet the points earning requirements.

Here’s how to link your accounts.

How to Link Your Marriott and Uber Accounts

You’ll need your Marriott Bonvoy number ready first off.

Then open the Uber app on your smart device.

Go to Settings and scroll down.

Tap on Marriott Bonvoy.

And tap Link Account.

You’ll sign in to your Marriott Bonvoy account using your login information.

A confirmation will appear, noting your accounts have been linked.

Then, you’re ready to earn Marriott points with each qualifying Uber purchases going forward.

The 2,000 Point Promo

While the points earning is just, meh, for me, the 2,000 point promo for linking accounts and making an Uber purchase is a little more enticing.

Granted, 2,000 Marriott points isn’t going to get you anything, but it’s an addition that gets you that much closer to your next free night award.

So, link your accounts using the step-by-step process above.

Then complete a qualifying Uber transaction – Uber Eats order of $25+ or Uber Ride (see qualifying Uber rides above) – by 11:59 p.m. Eastern Time on May 31, 2021.

The promo’s fine print states that once the qualifying transaction is made, the 2,000 Marriott points will appear in the member’s Bonvoy Account six to eight weeks later. Often with promotions like this, points are deposited much sooner. But, not always, so keep the roughly 2 months period for posting in mind.

Earning points for actual Uber rides is limited to Uber’s higher end vehicles.

However, if you’re a frequent user of Uber Eats, you will be able to earn 2 Marriott points for every dollar you spend.

All you have to do to start earning is link your Marriott and Uber accounts.
