Major United Airlines Miles Earning on Very Last Minute Holiday Shopping
|The United Airlines MileagePlus Shopping site is offering a limited time increase on the miles/dollar offered at a few of its affiliated retailers.
As of the writing of this post, Bloomingdale’s, Under Armour, Nieman Marcus and Saks.com have all significantly increase their miles/dollar earnings. Check out the image below for specifics.
As long as you have a United Mileage Plus frequent flyer account, all you have to do is log-in to the MileagePlus shopping site with your MileagePlus username/frequent flyer number and password and click through to the retailer from whom you want to make a purchase. Earned points will automatically be deposited into your United MileagePlus frequent flyer account.
As an example, Neiman Marcus is offering 18 United miles per dollar spent. So, if you buy a $100 Neiman Marcus e-gift card to give as a gift, you’ll receive 1,800 United miles!
Not all retailers pay miles for gift card purchases, though.
Frequent Miler, in his recent post on the increased payouts, notes that gift card purchases from both Bloomingdales and Saks do not earn miles. And Under Armour gift cards might, but also might not, earn points for gift card purchases.
So, from those retailers, purchasing an actual gift might be the safest route to go. Just print out a picture of your purchase, with a note stating the item is on its way, and wrap it up to make it more special than simply handing the recipient a printed image. Better late than never, right?
For our Miles and Points loving procrastinators, congrats, here’s a great way to buy that very-last-minute gift and get a significant amount of airline miles for yourself.
Happy Holidays!
