Instacart/Mastercard Promo: Two Free Months of Instacart Express
|Instacart and Mastercard have teamed to provide a promo that gives Mastercard credit card holders two free months of Instacart Express.
Instacart Express offers $0 delivery fees on orders of $35 or more per retailers, reduced service fees, no extra fees during busy shopping hours and the ability to order from multiple retailers on the same order.
Instacart Express regularly prices at $99 per year.
Promo Qualification
You qualify for this promo if you are not currently an Instacart Express member and have not claimed this same offer previously.
Additionally, you must use your Mastercard credit card as the payment method to claim the offer.
How to Claim the Offer
Per the promo page –
New Express members can elect to use their Mastercard card when signing up for an Express subscription.
- Go to www.instacart.com/mastercard
- Click Get Started to create your account
- Once logged in, click the green Redeem Offer button on the page
- Next, input your Mastercard credit card, debit card, or prepaid card information (Mastercard HSA and FSA cards will not be accepted)
- Once you fill out the required information, click Start membership to begin your Instacart Express membership
How to Cancel
The downside to this promo is that after the 2 free months of Instacart Express, you’ll be enrolled in auto-renew and charged the $99 annual membership fee.
So, if you don’t want to continue with Instacart Express, you’ll need to cancel prior to the end of your 2 month free trial period. A notice will supposedly be sent 3 days prior to the auto-renewal.
Cancelling seems to be pretty easy. Per the promo page:
“…if you do not want your membership to automatically renew, you can change this in your Instacart account settings under the Express section by choosing Turn off Auto-Renew. You can cancel your Instacart Express membership at any time in your account settings under the Express section by choosing End Membership.”
Wrap Up
Many may have gotten accustomed to Instacart during the early stages of the pandemic.
It’s a convenient way to get your groceries, everyday items, etc delivered directly to your door.
However, it’s not without its costs…one of which is the fees that are added. They do have to make money, of course.
But we want to save, too.
This free Instacart Express trial will save a bit on Instacart fees if you’re still using it for your shopping. And have a Mastercard credit card, of course.
Do keep in mind Instacart does, at some retailers, charge more for items than you’d pay if you bought in-store.
Comparing prices is smart anytime, but if you really want to save, make sure you’re not losing money by using Instacart just for this promo.
