Instacart and Chase Offering Select Cardholders a Free Instacart+ Membership
|Instacart and Chase are offering a free Instacart+ (used to be Instacart Express) membership to select Chase credit card holders.
Depending on the Chase credit card you hold, you may receive up to a 1-year membership.
Below is an Instacart graphic of the eligible Chase credit cards and how long each card’s Instacart+ membership is.
If you’re not familiar with Instacart+, here are the details.
Instacart+
Instacart+ offers unlimited free deliveries of Instacart orders of $35 or more.
Members receive a 5% credit on pick-up orders.
Additionally, an Instacart+ membership offers reduced service fees, and exclusive offers from partners such as Chase and Delta Air Lines.
An Instacart+ membership regularly prices at $99 per year or $9.99 per month.
Instacart+ / Chase Free Membership Promo
To get the Instacart+ free membership, you’ll need to have a chase credit card added to your Instacart account as a payment method, and be logged in to your Instacart account.
Then, when you click the promo link below, you’ll be offered the free membership deal.
Instacart+ / Chase Free Membership Link
You can sign up for this deal through July 21, 2024.
Yes, that year is correct, so if you have multiple eligible Chase cards, you should be able to continue this free Instacart+ membership for a while.
You can view the full Chase credit card promotion document at this link.
Automatic Enrollment and Charge
The only downside to this free Instacart+ membership is that you’ll be automatically enrolled for an annual plan ($99 per year) which will be charged at the free membership’s end date to any active credit card on file on that date.
Here’s how to cancel auto-renew of the Instacart+ membership.
- Go to the Menu (three stacked bars on top left of the Instacart page).
- Select Your Instacart+ membership.
- Select the red “Cancel Membership” option at the bottom of the page.
- Follow the cancel membership prompts until you get to the “confirm membership cancellation” page.
What’s nice is that you can disable the auto-renew option right after signing up for this promotion and still take advantage of the free Instacart+ membership through the end of your promo period.
Or, Instacart will email you prior to the end of the free trial period, alerting you of the upcoming charge. You could cancel then.
Instacart and Store Pricing
Just a quick thought on Instacart and pricing from a general standpoint.
There are some partner retailers whose pricing is higher when using Instacart than it is in-store. A comparison of pricing is always a good thing to decide if the value of using Instacart is there.
For some, the time saved shopping and driving to the retailer is worth the increased pricing (and even fees if not using a free Instacart+ membership). That’s a personal decision.
Just be aware, pricing per item may be higher at some retailers when shopping via Instacart.
That said, some retailers do not increase pricing for Instacart purchases. Again, to know for sure, you’ll need to price comparison.
For the retailers that do not charge more, Instacart can be a pretty good deal. This is especially so if you’re using the pick-up service, or this free Instacart+ membership deal. And even more so if you have an Instacart savings deal to add to an order.
Wrap Up
If you’re a regular Instacart user, especially someone who uses delivery on a somewhat regular basis, this free Instacart+ membership promo for Chase credit card holders is a pretty good deal.
But even if you don’t use Instacart delivery very often – or never – it might be worth signing up for this promotion.
Just remember to cancel your Instacart+ membership prior to it auto-renewing. At which time, you should be able to use another Chase credit card…if you have one, or more…to continue the free Instacart+ membership considering the “redeem by” date of July 31, 2024.
