Hulu Debuts Live-TV Streaming Service
|Hulu Live has finally joined, Sling TV, Playstation Vue, YouTube TV and DirecTV Now in the fight to be your alternative to high-cost cable or satellite subscriptions.
Launched yesterday, Hulu Live offers 50+ live and on-demand channels, access to Hulu’s streaming library, the ability to record 50 hours of programming to its cloud DVR and more for $39.99 per month.
Its channel offerings include:
Hulu Live offers add-ons to its service for an additional per month charge.
You can upgrade your cloud DVR from the included 50 hours to 200 hours for an additional $14.99 per month.
And, you can upgrade from being able to view Hulu Live on 2 screens at the same time to unlimited screens for another $14.99 charge per month.
If you want both of these add-ons, they can be bundled for a $19.99 monthly charge, making your total bill $59.98 for the base Hulu Live package with unlimited screen viewing and the ability to record 200 hours of programming.
Additionally, you can add a monthly subscription of Showtime for $8.99 per month.
Hulu Live can currently be watched on Apple and Android phones and tablets, as well as on your TV with Xbox One, Apple TV (4th Gen.) and Chromecast.
And coming soon, you’ll be able to use most streaming devices to watch Hulu Live such as Amazon’s Fire TV and Fire TV stick, Roku streaming devices and more.
As with many of the other streaming TV providers, access to live, major network channels (ABS, CBS, NBC and Fox) will be limited, with on-demand being the option for most when viewing each network’s programming. Contractual issues restrict live streaming of local network channels to select, primarily major markets.
And, of course, there is no commitment. Sign-up for a month, cancel the next, rinse and repeat…its your choice.
