Get a Free Month of DirecTV Now
|Earlier this summer DirecTV’s streaming service, DirecTV Now, offered a free month of service for Roku users. That deal ended August 31st.
DirecTV Now is, again, offering another free-month-deal to entice cordcutters, or those considering doing away with their pricey cable/satellite subscriptions, to its service rather than one of the other streaming options.
I took advantage of the Roku Free Month Trial, and was pleasantly surprised by the service.
I had no buffering issues during the times I watched – both on my computer and TV via my Roku device. And, I preferred the more traditional look of the onscreen guide as compared to the other services I’ve tried (Playstation Vue and Sling).
But, as with many things, your experience may be different. When it comes to streaming services, your specific Internet provider, and the device you’re using to watch, play a large part in picture quality and service reliability.
That’s not to say DirecTV Now is perfect. There are plenty of reports of issues from those using the service. I, personally, never encountered them during my one-month trial.
Which is the reason why – if you have any interest in the DirecTV Now streaming service – to give it a try yourself. And this free, one-month trial is the perfect opportunity.

Good to Know
This free-month promotion is for new users only. If you’ve signed up for a free trial of DirecTV Now before, you won’t get this deal. However, you could use a different email address than what was previously used, and potentially grab your free month. Give it a try and let us know.
There are 4 DirecTV Now channel lineup options from which to choose. When you sign-up for the free month deal, select the one with the most channels…the Gotta Have It lineup…to get the most from your free trial. If you decide to keep DirecTV Now after the free month, but don’t want to pay $70/month for the Gotta Have It option, simply downgrade to the one that best fits your viewing habits.
Reports from the previous Roku Free Month Deal noted that add-on channels such as HBO, Starz and Cinemax (and now Showtime) could be added to the free trial as well.
If you know you don’t want to keep DirecTV Now after the trial period, you can cancel your service right after signing up. You’ll still receive your full month of free streaming, and you won’t have to remember to cancel as the month trial period comes to an end.
Finally, if you don’t cancel, the plan you selected at sign-up will be automatically billed to the payment method you provided. And that includes all the add-on channels as well.
Thanks to SlickDeals and stanlee.steemer for this heads-up.
