The New United Quest Card - 100,000 United Miles after a Big Spend
Quote from Savings Beagle on April 9, 2021, 2:45 pmChase and United have introduced a new United MileagePlus credit card, the United Quest.
This card won't be for everyone with its mid-range annual fee and high spend requirement to earn the full 100,000 United miles, but some might want to give it a look.
United Quest Card
Earn 80,000 United miles after spending $5,000 in the first 3 months from card approval and earn an additional 20,000 miles after spending $10,000 total in the first 6 months from card approval.
Annual Fee: $250
Ongoing Earning
- 3 United miles per dollar spent on United Airlines purchases
- 2 United miles per dollar spent on all other travel
- 2 United miles per dollar spent at restaurants
- 2 United miles per dollar spent on select streaming services
- 1 United mile on all other purchases
Receive a $125 annual statement credit as reimbursement for United purchases charged to this card.
Each cardmember anniversary, receive 5,000 miles back after taking a United or United Express award flight booked with MileagePlus miles - up to 2 times every anniversary year.
The primary Cardmember and one companion traveling on the same reservation will each receive their first and second standard checked bag free – each way, per person - on United-operated flights when purchasing tickets with their United QuestSM Card.
Thoughts
The sign-up bonus is enticing, even if it's just for the initial 80,000 miles. Although the $5,000 spend is a bit steep. Although, if you plan on flying United in the upcoming year, the other benefits may make this card more interesting.
If your goal is to just get 80,000 United miles, I'd look at the Sapphire Preferred's current sign-up bonus that comes with a $4,000 spend rather than this card's $5,000. If you haven't received a sign-up bonus for one of the Sapphire cards in the past 48 months that is.
