[Ended] Southwest Airlines Credit Cards Offering Highest Sign-Up Bonuses Ever

Right now, many of the Southwest Airlines co-branded credit cards are offering all-time high sign-up bonuses!  We wrote this in our last Southwest Airlines credit card bonus post, but Chase and Southwest have raised the bonuses even more...along with spend requirements, unfortunately...from what was offered that last time.

Chase Southwest Personal Cards

Chase Southwest Rapid Rewards Plus credit card - 80,000 Rapid Rewards points (50,000 after $2,000 spend in 3 months, 30,000 after $10,000 spend in first 9 months) $69 annual fee

Chase Southwest Rapid Rewards Premier credit card - 80,000 Rapid Rewards points (50,000 after $2,000 spend in 3 months, 30,000 after $10,000 spend in first 9 months) $99 annual fee

Chase Southwest Rapid Rewards Priority credit card - 80,000 Rapid Rewards points (50,000 after $2,000 spend in 3 months, 30,000 after $10,000 spend in first 9 months) $149 annual fee

And each card is offering 5 points per dollar spent on Southwest purchases between 12/2/2020 and 3/31/2021 on up to $2,000 per month.

Keep in mind the Chase sign-up bonus rules associated with these cards..."This product is available to you if you do not have a current Southwest Rapid Rewards® Credit Card and have not received a new Cardmember bonus for this card in the past 24 months. This does not apply to Business Card and Employee Credit Card products."

This Chase Southwest personal cards sign-up bonus promotion ends 2/8/2021.

Chase Southwest Business Cards

Chase Southwest Rapid Rewards Performance Business credit card - 70,000 Rapid Rewards points after spending $5,000 in the first 3 months and an additional 30,000 points after spending $25,000 in the first 6 months. $199 annual fee

Chase Southwest Rapid Rewards Premier Business credit card - 60,000 Rapid Rewards points after spending $3,000 in the first 3 months. $99 annual fee.

An end-date for the business card bonuses is not obvious...it may be February 8, 2021, too.

If you are able to apply for a business card, and are not over Chase's 5/24 rule (approved for 5 or more credit card from any issuer within the last 24 months) then you may be able to easily earn the extremely valuable Southwest Airlines companion pass (need 125,000 Rapid Rewards points) with personal and business card applications thanks to these increased bonuses.

It would take some significant spend, though, even for the lower annual fee Southwest cards...$15,000 if you wanted the full amount of points (140,000).

But, right now is the ideal time to go for the Southwest Airlines Companion Pass via credit card sign-ups.  You'll want to hit the cards' spend amounts in January (or early in the year) so that the Rapid Rewards points post to your Southwest account giving you the Companion Pass for the remainder of 2021 and all of 2022.

The Companion Pass is a real money-saver when it comes to travel.  But the ability to earn the Companion Pass via credit card sign-ups has become more difficult.  If you can handle the sizable spend requirements to hit the 125,000 Rapid Rewards points, now's the time to go for it.
