[Ended] Southwest Airlines Credit Card with Companion Pass
Quote from Savings Beagle on February 10, 2021, 2:49 pmSouthwest Airlines and Chase have been offering the Southwest Rapid Rewards credit cards with the highest sign-up bonuses ever. The benefit, for those who can meet the minimum spends, is that you can fairly easily earn Southwest Airlines' Companion Pass with these sign-up bonus levels. While these increased sign-up bonuses were supposed to end February 8, 2021, the links in our post below still are working as of 2/10/21.
However, Chase and Southwest are out with a different sign-up bonus that offers 30,000 Rapid Rewards points and a Companion Pass to use through February 28, 2022.
All three Southwest personal cards have this offer available and require a $5,000 spend within the first 3 months from card approval to earn the 30,000 points and Companion Pass.
You will need to pay the annual fee associated with the card you apply for on your first month's statement.
Below are the links and fees for each card.
Southwest Rapid Rewards Plus Credit Card ($69)
Southwest Rapid Rewards Premier Credit Card ($99)
Southwest Rapid Rewards Priority Credit Card ($149)
This sign-up bonus is good through March 10, 2021.
If you're hoping to travel later this year, this Southwest credit card deal would likely make your and your traveling companion's airfare essentially free (you do have to pay $5.60 per travel segment to cover fees).
Keep in mind the Chase sign-up bonus rules associated with these cards..."This product is available to you if you do not have a current Southwest Rapid Rewards® Credit Card and have not received a new Cardmember bonus for this card in the past 24 months. This does not apply to Business Card and Employee Credit Card products."
And, of course, Chase's 5/24 rule that basically says if you've applied for 5 or more credit cards from any issuer in the previous 24 months you will not be approved.
Those restrictions aside, this is a decent offer for those wanting to cut travel expenses in the next year. The only downside is Covid, and what that will mean for travel in the coming 12 months.
