The downside to this sign-up deal is that you have to go in-store to the Sam's Club Membership Desk to redeem the gift card.  A similar requirement was part of an earlier Sam's deal...and as I said then, I know why they're doing it, I just don't think it's a smart thing to require right now.

So, keep that in mind if you're considering this deal.

And the definition of "new" membership...which is a requirement for these deals...is not having been a member for the past 6 months.  Another household member can sign up for this deal if you've had a membership less than 6 months ago, though.  These deal are not good on renewals or for current members.

If you're thinking of joining Sam's Club to have access to everyday items should pandemic lockdowns become serious again, I'd encourage you to check availability on samsclub.com now.  Many of those go-to items are already out of stock online and in-store.  That may change - even daily - but it's something to keep in mind when considering the value of a Sam's Club membership these days.
