HBO and Cinemax Available Again May 14 - 17, 2020

DirecTV subscribers can, once again, enjoy a Freeview of HBO and Cinemax this weekend.

Free viewing of HBO and Cinemax begins May 14, 2020, and runs through May 17, 2020.

All you need to do to take advantage of this free long weekend of premium channels is tune to channels 501-523 (may be different for some subscribers) and enjoy.

You should also be able to view the HBO/Cinemax preview via the DirecTV App and at directv.com if you’re using a mobile device.

DVR FOR LATER VIEWING

Don't forget you can record as many free preview programs as you like to watch at a later date.  Just because the free preview ends, doesn’t mean your recorded movies/shows go away.  Once recorded, you have them saved until you delete them.

Wrap Up

With DirecTV’s free additional content scheduled to end this coming week, we may not see as many free premium channel previews as we have the past few months. Although, as with anything Covid-19 related, who knows.

And, if you haven't yet taken advantage of our DirecTV bill lowering advice, be sure to read our piece “How to Lower Your DirecTV Bill,” to get specifics on how to pay less for your DirecTV service.

I wish they continue the free week till the lockdown ends but these free resources are still working check them out.

Now wondering if HBO customers are able to get the MAX for free with the previous subscription as is the case with Disney+ Hulu or they have to pay separately for this as well.

Agreed.  It would have been nice for DirecTV to provide HBO to all subscribers through the longest lockdown period. Oh well.  Might have gotten more hooked who would then continue with a DTV HBO subscription - it is offering a $9.99/month deal - or move over to the online HBO Max.

Good listing of free streaming resources...thanks for posting.

As for which HBO customers get access to Max for free, the CNET article below does a decent job showing who gets free HBO Max and who doesn't.  According to the article, "...new DirecTV Choice, Xtra, Ultimate, Más Ultra or Óptimo Más package customers will be eligible to receive HBO Max included for a year."  Some current DirecTV subscribers will get 3 months free access, but only for the higher tier packages.  You can read the details at the article linked below.
