Discovery just launched its Discovery+ streaming platform and select Verizon Wireless customers can enjoy either a full year, or 6-months, absolutely free.

Not that it's a huge savings considering the commercial version of Discovery+ prices at $4.99 per month and the commercial-free version at $6.99 per month.  But, if you are on a certain Verizon Wireless plan, you can get access free.

The plans that offer up to a free year of Discovery+ are:

• Play More Unlimited
• Get More Unlimited

Other Unlimited plans can get up to 6-months of Discovery+ free.

This is available for new and existing Verizon Wireless customers on these plans.

To get the Verizon Wireless free Discovery+ benefit you need to sign-up for discovery+ via My Verizon/the Verizon Wireless app.  The steps are:

• Open the My Verizon app
• Tap the "More" menu icon
• Tap "Add-ons & Apps"
• Tap "Entertainment" and then select "Learn more" under discovery+
• Review details and then tap "Enroll"
• Review changes and accept terms and conditions
• Tap "Confirm" and then "Go to discovery+" to finish setup

You'll need to enter your email address and create a password for your discovery+ account - you can then use this login info to access Discovery+ on any platform that offers the Discovery+ app.

Finally, review the agreement and then tap "Agree and continue."

This is a decent deal if you're a Verizon Wireless customer on one of the Unlimited Plans that offer free access to the new Discovery+ platform.

Likely, Discovery+ will auto-renew to a month-to-month charge once your free period is up, so be sure to set a reminder to cancel if you don't want to continue the service.
