You may, or may not know, I'm a Miles and Points hobbyist, strategically using credit card sign-up bonuses and bonused spend categories to travel close to free.
One of the miles and points bloggers that I follow is Gary Leff of the View from the Wing travel blog. Every so often he writes about tipping - primarily as it relates to traveling - and boy does it get a rise out of readers.
His latest tipping-related post touches on a somewhat new tipping phenomenon that really gets to me. iPads, or similar Internet-connected payment methods, that either require a tip, or more likely guilt you into tipping when a "service" may or may not have been provided.
Now I'm all for tipping when a service is provided - such as restaurant wait staff, hotel employees who provide a service, etc., but tipping has crept into areas of the economy where it previously was not expected.
And with prices sky-high as it is, tipping is just one more financial burden that is stressing our budgets.
The post "Tipflation: Why You Hate Tipping Housekeeping and Airport Vendors But Won't Admit It" is interesting and entertaining...especially the comment section.
