Discover Credit Card Holders Save $20 off $50+

Over the past few years, we've seen Amazon savings deals like this one from many of the major credit card issuers.

For 2020, Discover is the first one to publicize its savings offer.

The process for getting the Amazon savings deal is the same no matter the card issuer.

For this specific deal, you need to have a Discover card added as a payment method to your Amazon Wallet and enrolled in Amazon's Shop with Points.

Then check to see if your Amazon account has been targeted for the Discover savings deal by clicking the link below.

Discover / Amazon Promotion Activation Page

If you haven't been targeted, you'll see the message: “Thank you for your interest in this offer. Unfortunately, you are not eligible for this invitation-only offer” or something similar.

If you are targeted, you should see an activation button.

Activate your promotion.

Add $50 or more of eligible products to your Amazon cart (see below for a definition of eligible products).

Go to the checkout page and make sure your Discover card is selected as your payment method.

Choose the amount of Discover Cashback Bonus Points you want to use (typically, $0.01, or 1 point, is the best way to play these deals.  Although, you can use as much as you want to offset the actual purchase price.).

Once your Discover card is selected as the payment method and you've selected at least 1 Discover point, your discount will be applied to your purchase(s).

Eligible Products - To get the savings, you must purchase items sold and shipped by Amazon.com.  You need to look for those exact (or similar) words on the product page.  Many mainstream-type products will have an option that is sold and shipped by Amazon, so it's not too hard to find purchase options on which you can save.  Most gift cards (Netflix, Starbucks, etc.) will trigger these savings deals if you're at a loss for a purchase.

Not everyone is targeted for these credit card savings deals, even if you have the deal's card in your Amazon Wallet and have Shop with Points set up.

Sometimes these deals are rolled out over time.  If you don't have it now, check back in a few days or weeks to see if your availability's changed.

Also, some have success getting the deal to appear after deleting a card from their Amazon Wallet and then re-adding it.  Wait a day or so if you give this a try for the deal to become available.

With regard to this Discover / Amazon deal, the $20 off $50 deal seems to be the most common, but other amounts are also being reported.

This promotion is good through March 31, 2020, or until 75,000 customers have redeemed the offer.

As with any of these Amazon/credit card discount deals, even though an end-date is listed, the promo's savings can continue or be re-upped.  It's always worth a promo link click to see if you've been added to the eligible list.
